WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State faces West Texas A&M for the second time this season and hopes to avenge a 69-67 loss in the first encounter. Tipoff at D.L. Ligon Coliseum is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Randi Harding drove to the basket and scored with 1.5 seconds remaining as the Lady Buffs won the matchup at First United Bank Center on Jan. 3.
The Mustangs suffered a similar fate on Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum as Abbi Holder stole an inbounds pass in the waning moments of the fourth quarter and scored the game-winning layup with two seconds remaining as Eastern New Mexico defeated Midwestern State, 70-69.
Midwestern State fell to 9-11 overall with a 7-7 record in the Lone Star Conference. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak overall and halted a seven-game home winning streak.
Kerbie Cash played all 40 minutes and posted her eighth double-double of the season with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Zarria Carter fought through foul trouble to score 22 points and grab eight rebounds in 24 minutes for the Mustangs.
Carter leads the conference in scoring (20.5 ppg), rebounding (11.5 rpg) and steals (2.5 spg). She has the second-best field goal percentage (54.6%). Carter is 159-of-291 from the field, and no one in the conference has converted more field goals or put up more shots than the 6-1 senior from Mansfield, Texas.
The reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week is the fourth-leading rebounder in the country and the 10th-leading scorer. Carter leads the league with 14 double-doubles this season, and only two players in NCAA Division II have more double-doubles. Emily Chmiel of East Stroudsburg and Alisha Little of Colorado State-Pueblo each have 15 double-doubles.
Carter is 91-of-126 (72.2%) from the free-throw line. She has made the second-most free throws and has the most attempts in the LSC. She has the 10th-best free-throw percentage in the conference.
Cash, a 6-2 freshman from Wylie, Texas, is the ninth-leading rebounder in the LSC with 7.4 boards per game, and she is the 12th leading scorer in the league with 12.9 points per game. In conference games, she averages 14.8 points and 8.4 rebounds.
Cash has also been productive at the free-throw line, hitting 79-of-107 (73.8%). She has the fourth-most made free throws in the LSC and the third-most attempts. Her free-throw percentage is eighth in the league.
The Mustangs have the most free-throw attempts per game in the conference with 21.9 and are shooting 69.4 percent (304-of-438) from the free-throw line as a team. The Mustangs have the second-most made free throws in the LSC with 15.2 per game.
Midwestern State is second in the league with 42.4 rebounds per game, which is 19th in the nation, and MSU is grabbing 15 offensive rebounds per game, which is second in the conference and 26th among NCAA Division II programs.
The Mustangs are scoring 62.5 points per game and holding their opponents to 63 points per game.
Carisa Cortez is dishing out three assists per game, which is 10th in the conference, and she boasts the seventh-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the league at 1.2.
Midwestern State is forcing the fourth-most turnovers in the conference at 18.5 per game, and the Stangs are second in the league with 10.8 steals per game.
Carter leads the LSC with 50 total steals. Calyssa Sevier is 10th in the conference with 33 steals. Emillia Steele and Cash are 15th in the league with 31 steals apiece.
The Mustangs are holding opponents to 38.6 percent shooting from the field, which is eighth-best in the LSC. Opponents are only shooting 26.4 percent from 3-point range, which is the third-best 3-point percentage defense in the LSC.

West Texas A&M enters the game with a 13-8 overall record and is 7-7 in conference play after a 59-44 loss at Lubbock Christian. The Lady Buffs have a three-game losing streak and are 2-6 on the road this season.
The Lady Buffs are the fourth-highest scoring team in the LSC with 67.7 points per game, but they are 11th in the league in scoring defense, conceding 65.8 points per game.
West Texas A&M shoots 40.3 percent from the field, which is sixth-best in the conference, but its field goal percentage defense is 11th as opponents shoot 39.5 percent against the Lady Buffs, including 29.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Kyla Kane is the leading scorer for the Lady Buffs with 13.1 points per game, and she is one of three players averaging double figures. Randi Harding scores 11.4 points per game, and Claire Graham pitches in 11.2 points per contest.
