LAWTON, Oklahoma -- No. 4-ranked Midwestern State was able to run the table in the Lone Star Conference and earned its 10th conference victory with an impressive performance against a strong team from Cameron. The Mustangs prevailed over the 22nd-ranked Aggies at Streich-Henry Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon, 5-2.
After finishing the regular season 18-3 overall and 10-0 in the conference, the Mustangs will be the No. 1 seed in the LSC Women's Tennis Championships at Arlington Tennis Center. MSU meets UT Permian Basin in the quarterfinals at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Hannah Yip locked up the outright conference championship for MSU as she won a rigorous baseline battle at No. 3 singles and defeated Kateryna Rudenko of Cameron, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Yip has a 10-match winning streak but was forced into a decisive third set for the first time in nine matches. Yip is 5-0 in three-set encounters this season. The lefty from Malaysia is 16-5 this year and 9-1 against conference opponents.
Yip paired with
Shreya Chakraborty to complete a sweep in doubles. The tandem won a tiebreak at No. 2 doubles, defeating Rudenko and Jenna Goessel, 7-6 (4). Yip is 14-4 in doubles matches this season and 7-2 alongside Chakraborty, including six wins against LSC opponents.

Jessica Binzari teamed with
Anda Ghinga, to clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 win over 48th-ranked Vasilisa Polunova and Anastasia Uspenskaia at No. 1 doubles. The Mustangs' Romanian tandem is ranked No. 31 in NCAA Division II and finished the regular season with a 12-7 record overall and 6-4 in the LSC.
Sydney Williams and
Sarah Mazaraki earned a fifth consecutive win at No. 3 doubles as the duo breezed past Lea Manga and Magda Wowroska, 6-2. Mazaraki is 12-2 in doubles matches for the Mustangs after going 7-2 with Yip earlier in the season. Williams, a junior from Austin, Texas, has won eight of her last 10 doubles matches and is 5-0 alongside the freshman from Australia.
Uspenskaia won her 11th consecutive singles match and pulled Cameron even with the Mustangs early in the tilt with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over freshman
Sofia Giraldo at No. 4 singles. Uspenskaia is 11-1 with a 7-0 record in the LSC this season. Giraldo completed her first collegiate regular season with an 11-6 mark and was 4-3 in conference matches.
Ghinga, ranked No. 24 in the nation, took down the 69th-ranked Goessel in a tussle at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-3. Ghinga has won her last seven singles matches without dropping a set and is 19-1 this season, including four wins over nationally ranked opponents.
Binzari, ranked No. 23 in the nation, continued to show her might at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Polunova, who is ranked No. 16 in the nation. Binzari has a six-match winning streak, including two wins over top-20 opponents. Binzari completed the regular season campaign with a 7-3 conference record and has won eight of her last 10 matches at No. 1 singles.
Williams knocked off Martyna Jankowska at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-4, for her 12th consecutive singles victory. Williams lost a three-set match to Zuzanna Krygier of Findlay on Feb. 28th but has not tasted defeat on a singles court since that non-conference clash. Eight of those victories have come in straight sets.
Skylar Minns, a senior from Aransas Pass, Texas, suffered a loss in straight sets for the first time since a 6-1, 6-4 setback to Eryka Kruk of Flagler on March 15. Lea Manga earned a 6-0, 7-6 (1) victory over Minns at No. 5 singles. Minns finished the regular season with an 8-2 record in the LSC, and she is 12-7 overall this season.
Cameron is 12-7 overall with an 8-2 conference record and is the No. 3 seed in the LSC Women's Tennis Championships.
Midwestern State won its fifth LSC regular season championship and its first since 2018.
