WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State has opened the season with a 4-2 record, including wins over two nationally-ranked opponents, and the Mustangs are No. 18 in the ITA Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings released on Wednesday.
The Mustangs dispatched then No. 23-ranked West Alabama at the UT Tyler Invitational on Friday, 6-1 and followed that up with a 4-3 triumph over No. 22-ranked Auburn Montgomery, which fell three spots after losing to two Lone Star Conference opponents in Tyler, Texas. Cameron also defeated the Warhawks, 4-3.
UT Tyler, who the Mustangs will face at MSU Tennis Center on April 13, are the highest-ranked team in the LSC at No. 9. The Patriots have started the season with a 6-2 record. The only other LSC school among the top-25 teams in the nation is Lubbock Christian, which is right behind MSU at No. 19 with a 5-1 mark.
Midwestern State opens the conference campaign against the Chaparrals at MSU Tennis Center on March 20.

The Stang Gang is hosting No. 40-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, No. 13-ranked Washburn and No. 14-ranked McKendree in a three-day span at MSU Tennis Center. MSU faces UNK on Friday at 2 p.m. Washburn battles the Mustangs on Saturday at 2 p.m., and McKendree tangles with Midwestern State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
