LUBBOCK, Texas -- Midwestern State set 11 personal records and put up a strong showing in the 4x400-meter relay Saturday afternoon in the Masked Rider Open at Texas Tech's Fuller Track & Field Complex.

Da'Shrana Sims, Jessie Heath, Trell'Kyrah Watkins, and Nidhi Singh combined to run a 3:55.23 which stands 15th on the NCAA Division II performance list. The time is also the fourth fastes in program history.

Sophomore Ella Pando continued her strong start to the season by winning the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:24.65 which stands 81st on the national performance chart, while freshman Jaycee Lyons was runner-up in the event with a time of 18:39.58.

The Mustangs also displayed great depth in the 800-meter run with sophomore Jadyn Dangerfield clocking the 34th best time in NCAA Division II this season as she finish ninth with a time of 2:16.37.

Junior Nathalia Escontrias was 11th with a time of 2:17.45, while Lyons moved into 10th on MSU's all-time performance chart with a time of 2:19.76.

Four Mustangs have now gone under the 2:20 plateau including frosh Jessie Heath, who ran a 2:19.69 last week at the Wes Kittley Invitational.

Junior Daiza Jones raced to the second-fastest 400-meter time in program history by taking 14th with a 57.25, which stands 43rd in all of NCAA Division II this season. She finished ahead of Heath, place 19th with a time of 58.41 which is 87th in the nation so far this season.

Junior Corinne Thorpe turned in a pair of strong wind-aided marks clocking a 12.08 to take 14th in the 100-meter dash, while finishing 19th at 200 meters with a time of 25.15.

Sophomore Trell'Kyrah Watkins placed 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a campaign-best time of 1:04.14, which stands 30th in NCAA Division II, edging Singh, who was 11th with a 1:04.64.

Senior Peyton Lewis leaped a wind-aided 17 feet, 1 1/2 inches to take ninth in the long jump. The mark stands 86th in NCAA Division II.

Midwestern State is slated to compete in the 96th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Thursday in Austin. The Mustangs also hit the road for Angelo State's David Noble Relay from April 4-6.
