Singh qualifies for NCAA II Outdoor Track & Field Championships

PUEBLO, Colorado -- Midwestern State's Nidhi Singh earned selection to compete in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division II Championships.

The meet is set to run from May 22-24 in the ThunderBowl on the campus of Colorado State-Pueblo.

The preliminary rounds for the 800-meter run are set for Friday, May 23, at 6 p.m. with the finals following Saturday at 7 p.m. Both times are Central.

Singh garnered United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCA) All-America honors after placing fifth in the 800-meter run during the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in March.

Singh posted an altitude-adjusted time of 2:06.53 at the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 1 in Portales, New Mexico, to land ninth on the NCAA Division II performance chart.

She competes against a field that features Colorado State-Pueblo junior Helen Braybrook, the indoor national champion, and West Texas A&M freshman Abigail Abugire, the LSC indoor and outdoor champ.

Singh becomes the third Midwestern State student-athlete to compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Brissia Montalvo finished 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2012 at Pueblo, while Ashley Flores qualified in the 1,500-meter run in 2014 at Allendale, Michigan.
