Johnson, Hodnett pace shot-shooting Greyhounds past Midwestern State

THE LEAD

PORTALES, New Mexico -- Eastern New Mexico's Greg Johnson erupted for a career-high 39 points to lead the hot-shooting Greyhounds to a 108-91 win over Midwestern State here Saturday afternoon.

ENMU won for the sixth-straight time at Greyhound Arena, improving to 10-4 overall while moving to 6-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

Midwestern State fell to 10-5 on the season and to 4-5 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

While Johnson logged a gaudy, all-around performance with 39 points, six rebounds, and six assists and LSC leading scorer Jahcoree Ealy threatened a triple-double with 12 points, eight assists, and six rebounds, it was sharpshooter Junior Hodnett that provided the difference in crunch time.

The sophomore from Rio Rancho, New Mexico, buried four of his five 3-pointers after Midwestern State grasped the lead with 8:51 to play after Mason Gibson to give the Mustangs a 71-70 advantage.

Spurred by Hodnett's shooting performance, the Greyhounds scored 38 points down the stretch.
