MSU welcomes Western New Mexico to D.L. Ligon Coliseum

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State returns to its home floor on Thursday for a Lone Star Conference clash with Western New Mexico. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

Series History | Midwestern State leads, 12-3

LAST MEETING | Shawnisay Miller scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds as Midwestern State defeated Western New Mexico last season at D.L. Ligon Coliseum, 70-57. Midwestern State had five players score in double figures, including Sheridan Bostic, who was 3 of 6 from 3-point range and finished with 12 points and six rebounds for MSU in the triumph. Midwestern State raced out to a 21-10 lead in the first quarter and led by as many as 17 points en route to the victory. Markayla Johnson recorded three of the seven blocks for MSU and also grabbed a season-high seven rebounds.

LAST TIME OUT | Lubbock Christian extended its home court winning streak to 111 games taking a 74-63 victory over Midwestern State Sunday afternoon at Rip Griffin Center. Lubbock Christian scored the last nine points of the first half to take control of a tight game. Sophomore Grace Foster fueled the run with a jump shot and a pair of free throws, while freshman guard Taylor Thomas penetrated for a pair of layups to give the Lady Chaps a 35-26 at halftime. Lubbock Christian led by as many as 14 points in the second half. Freshman Dyamon Griggs notched her third collegiate double-double scoring 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting while grabbing a season-high 13 rebounds in 22 minutes. Senior Jordan Mathis scored 12 points and snagged six rebounds in 24 minutes off of the bench. It was her fourth double-figure scoring performance of the season. Junior Kennedi Green scored nine points, dished out five assists, and made three steals. Midwestern State scored 15 second-chance points on 17 offensive rebounds. The Mustangs controlled the rebounding edge for the eighth time in 11 games this season.
