WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Jake Doggett and
Garrett Leek earned NCAA Division II PING All-South Central Region honors Monday as released by the Golf Coaches' Association of America.
Doggett garnered all-region honors for the fourth consecutive season, while Leek gained all-region accolades for the second consecutive season.
Derek Oland is the only other men's golfer in program history to earn multiple all-region awards claiming honors in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
The Hutto native claimed first-team All-Lone Star Conference honors in each of the last four seasons and claimed an individual league title in 2021. He is also a two-time PING All American earning second-team honors in 2020 and gained honorable mention in 2021.
The two-time LSC Golfer of the Year (2019 and 2022) is enjoying an historic campaign claiming five individual wins this season. His current season scoring average of 69.97 is also tops in program history as is his 96.9 season finish percentage.
Doggett's 27 par-or-better scores are also the most in a single season for an MSU golfer. He has scored in the 60s in 17 of his 37 tournament rounds this season.
Doggett currently ranks third in the GolfStat Division II player rankings and was named amongst the five finalists for the Jack Nicklaus Division Player of the Year.
He was chosen to represent United States as the lone Division II men's representative in the 2022 Arnold Palmer Cup to be played July 1-3 at the prestigious Golf Club de Geneve in Switzerland.
Leek claimed third-team PING All-America honors last season and was the 2021 LSC Player of the Year.
The Brock native boasts six Top 10 finishes this season and is coming off of a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II West/South Central Region Championship losing in a four-hole tiebreaker.
Leek boasts a season stroke average of 72.43 posting par-or-better finishes in 15 of 37 tournament rounds this season scoring in the 60s on five occasions.
Leek claimed All-LSC first-team honors in 2020 and 2021. He was a second-team pick following the 2019 and 2022 seasons.
Midwestern State makes its first appearance in the NCAA Division II Championships this week at TPC Michigan in Dearborn.
