WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 30-ranked Midwestern State made a late charge up the leaderboard on Monday afternoon and enters the final round of the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club in 11
th place at 24-over 592.
Seth Bearden and
Nathan Nelson are in a seven-way tie for 27
th place on the individual leaderboard at 4-over 146 as both players shot even-par 71 in the second round.
Chase Kisver, a junior from Flower Mound, Texas, shot a stellar 2-under 69 in the second round, which included an eagle on the 530-yard, par-5 fifth hole. The transfer from Arkansas-Monticello is also in the group tied for 27
th place at 4-over, but he is competing as an individual this week.
UT Permian Basin turned in the best round of the day, shooting 7-under 277 in the second round, and the Falcons hold an eight-stroke lead over the second-ranked JUCO — Odessa College — entering the final round at 7-under 561.
The Falcons were atop the leaderboard after shooting even-par 284 in the morning session. No. 8-ranked St. Mary's was in second place — five strokes behind their LSC counterpart entering the second round — but slipped to fourth place after 36 holes at 11-over 579.
No. 17-ranked Dallas Baptist is in third place after two rounds, shooting 1-under 283 in the second round to finish the day at 10-over 578.
Will Tate of UTPB shot 4-under 67 in the opening round and followed that up with a 3-under 68 to take a three-stroke lead atop the individual leaderboard through 36 holes. Eight of the 101 players in the 18-team field finished the second round in red numbers. Three players shot even-par on the first day of the 54-hole tournament.
No. 11-ranked Samuel Jenkins of Dallas Baptist is in second place at 4-under 138. Cameron's Rory Gorman is tied with Baptiste Touchard of St. Mary's and Dian Wilmot of Odessa College at 3-under 139. Carson Wright of Cameron is in sixth place at 2-under, while Hayden Bowman of Lubbock Christian and Ioan Rowe of UTPB are 1-under.
Bearden had three birdies in each round and played his final nine holes of the day at 2-under 34 to finish the second round at even-par after shooting 4-over in the first round. Nelson also opened with a 4-over 75 before shooting even-par in the second round and also had six birdies in the two rounds combined.
Ryan Griff was 1-under through his first six holes in the morning session and finished the first round with four birdies and a 5-over 76. Griff closed the second round with two birdies over his final three holes and shot 1-over 72. The sophomore from Bulverde, Texas, is in a 10-way tie for 38
th place at 6-over 148.
Hank Germany birdied his first two holes of the day and finished with four birdies over 36 holes. The junior from Midlothian, Texas, is 10-over 151 entering the final round in a six-way tie for 65
th place.
Anniston McIlwain closed out with a birdie on his final hole of the day and shot 4-over 75 in the second round. The transfer from Delta State, who is also a sophomore from Bulverde, is in a three-way tie for 80
th place at 12-over.

Bryce Hoech are both competing as individuals in Maroon & Gold this week, and both shot 7-over 78 in the second round on Monday. Moody is in 88
th place at 14-over, and Hoech is in 98
th place at 18-over.
UT Permian Basin led the field with 34 birdies through the first two rounds, and Midwestern State finished with 24. The Falcons also had the fewest bogeys with 30, while MSU tied for the third fewest with 36 bogeys. The Mustangs had 11 double-plus bogeys over 36 holes, which was tied for sixth most in the field.
The third and final round tees off at Wichita Falls Country Club on Tuesday morning.
