TROPHY CLUB, Texas -- Midwestern State's Juanita Gomez battled her way to a fourth consecutive top five finish by tying for third Tuesday in the Texas A&M-Commerce Lion Invitational at The Trophy Club's Hogan Course.

The senior from Medellin, Colombia logged scores of 76, 78 and 76 for a 14-over 230 while grinding out a team-best 34 pars.

"Juanita was just really solid," MSU coach Jeff Ray said. "It was totally opposite from the first day. Every line that you found in the tee box was totally different. Her experience shows and she is a great around the greens. Her chipping and putting was impressive."

Gomez tied for third with former teammate Megan Brown of Southwestern Oklahoma State as the duo finished sixth strokes behind individual medalist Jacqueline Klemm. Klemm, a junior from Arkansas Tech, marked scores of 74, 74 and 76 for an 8-over 224.

Gomez delivered steady play and a 74.2 stroke average over the past four tournaments winning the Oklahoma Intercollegiate in October and the Midwestern State Invitational last week. She also tied for fifth at the Nick Turner Invitational in the fall finale before tying for third this week.

As a team, the Mustangs tied for fifth logging tallies of 321, 316 and 321 for a 98-over 962 finishing behind Texas A&M-Commerce (935/+71), Angelo State (943/+79), Southwestern Oklahoma (954/+90) and Arkansas Tech (960/+96).

Junior Beatrice Perucchini (86-75-81 242/+26) tied for 20th, while freshman Makenna Henry (75-82-86 243/+27) tied for 23rd.

Fellow frosh Brecklyn Flanagan (85-81-84 250/+34) and Hollie James (85-84-84 253/+37) tied for 38th and 41st, respectively.

Midwestern State next competes in the RJGA Palm Valley Classic on April 1-2 at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
