MSU tallies fourth-straight victory over Weatherford College with 6-1 win

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State clinched its second-straight victory with a 6-1 win over Weatherford College. The No. 22 Mustangs pushed the Coyotes to 0-3 at MSU Tennis Center on Tuesday.

MSU made easy work of doubles play, securing the lead early. Anda Ghinga and Emilija Visic overtook Ana Khurstaleva and Mia Milojevic, 6-2 at the top spot. This marked Ghina and Visic's second straight doubles win together this season.

Hannah Yip and Ethne Dowling defeated WC's Michelle Markovic and Elena Saunders. The second doubles line score was 6-2. Sydney Williams and Skylar Minns finished 6-3 against Marija Ristanovic and Agathe Vaillant at the third line.

Ghinga continued her winning streak with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Khurstaleva at the top singles line.

Yip competed at No. 2 singles for the second straight match. The freshman tallied a 6-3, 6-4 win over Markovic.

Kyndall Quiroz made her season singles debut at the third spot. The sophomore defeated Milojevic 6-3, 6-3.

Weatherford College posted their only point of the match at the fourth line. Dowling claimed the first set over Ristanovic, 6-4, and dropped the second 6-4. Ristanovic came back to clinch the third set 7-6 for the victory.

Vaillant fell to Williamsm, 6-1, 6-2, at the fifth singles spot.

Minns found a win over Saunders at No. 6 singles. The sophomore tallied a 6-2, 6-0 score.

Midwestern State is back at MSU Tennis Center on Thursday, Feb. 10. The Mustangs face Seward County Community College in their final match of the week. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
