LUBBOCK, Texas -- Midwestern State's 4x400-meter relay set a new standard, while freshman Peyton Lewis extended her school long jump record Saturday night in the Corky/Crofoot Shootout at Texas Tech's Fuller Track & Field Complex.
 
Asia Robertson, Gemma Gonzalez, Taylor Carr and Sydni Lewis combined to run a 3:59.50 to finish fourth in the 4x400-meter relay to improve on the old school record by nearly three seconds. It was the fifth fastest time in the Lone Star Conference this season.
 
Peyton Lewis improved her mark by seven inches to finish seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet and 9 inches. The mark ranks ninth in the LSC this season.
 
The records were just two of seven personal records set by the Mustangs in the Corky/Crofoot Shootout.
 
Robertson (12.46), Carr (12.73), and Kierra Hicks (12.79) all set personal bests to place 21st, 23rd and 24th in the 100-meter dash, respectively.
 
Carr set another PR in the 200-meter dash finishing 15th with a time of 25.58. Robertson (25.39/14th), Sydni Lewis (25.74/16th), Aaryanna Williams (26.69/20th) and Hicks (26.72/21st) all posted wind-aided times that would have been PRs.
 
Gonzalez paced an MSU trio in the 800-meter run finishing 10th with a time of 2:23.49. Alexandra Feller set a personal best time of 2:32.84 to finish 13th ahead of Brayleigh McGill (2:32.89/14th).
 
Emily Hurst improved on her top mark in the high jump to finish fourth with a mark of 4 feet, 11.75 inches.
 
Feller led the Mustangs in the 1,500-meter run finishing sixth with a time of 5:09.40 ahead of McGill (5:18.13/8th), Victoria Rosas (5:26.26/9th) and Michelle Estrada (5:31.10/11th).
 
Elizabeth Butzke finished 12th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:22.03.
 
Midwestern State competes in the Lone Star Conference Championships on May 6-8 at Buffalo Sports Park in Canyon, Texas.
