ABILENE, Texas -- Midwestern State turned in 19 season-best performances and improved on a pair of school record Wednesday night in Abilene Christian's Oliver Jackson Twilight meet at Elmer Gray Stadium.
Sophomore
Peyton Lewis extended her program-best mark in the long jump by nearly seven inches with a leap of 17 feet and 6 inches to finish 10th, while MSU's 4x100-meter relay squad advanced its mark by .29 seconds.
Shakiah Randall,
Asia Robertson,
Aaryanna Williams and
Taylor Carr claimed a sixth-place finish in the relay with a time of 47.85.
The 200-meter crew accounted for six of the personal bests led by Robertson who claimed a win clocking a 26.27. She was followed by
Sydni Lewis (26.30/2nd), Williams (27.03/4th), Carr (27.06/5th),
Kierra Hicks (27.60/10th),
Peyton Lewis (28.29/15th) and
Paitlyn Davis (28.62/19th).
Senior
Katie Till claimed fifth-place showing in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.32 followed by
Gemma Gonzalez who was eighth with a time of 2:24.12, while
Brayleigh McGill closed 17th clocking a 2:31.31.
The trio nearly matched the same results in the 1,500-meter run with Till finishing sixth with a 5:02.61, Gonzalez closing eighth with a 5:13.47 and McGill was 17th with a time of 5:29.15.
The Mustangs' distance bunch also turned quality efforts.
Sophomores
Alexandra Feller (19:03.75) and
Elizabeth Butzke (19:15.37) turned in personal bests in the 5,000-meter run to finish sixth and seventh, respectively.
Freshman
Christyn Smith (42:08.45) and sophomore
Victoria Rosas (44:28.14) finished third and sixth, respectively, in their first try at the 10,000-meter distance, while senior
Michelle Estrada claimed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 12:43.91.
Sophomore
Sydni Lewis became just the third Mustang in program history to crack the 60-second barrier in the 400-meter dash clocking a 59.58 followed by Robertson (1:00.48/13th), Carr (1:01.47/15th) and Hicks (1:08.66/22nd).
Randall recorded a ninth-place showing in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.47 just ahead of Davis who finished 20th with a time of 13.29.
Freshman
Sadie Anderle placed ninth in her first try in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.66.
Peyton Lewis also finished sixth with a triple jump mark of 36 feet and a quarter of an inch, while Williams was 14th with a long jump of 16 feet, 9.25 inches.
Freshman
Ilana Anderson placed 12th in the hammer throw (120 feet, 3 inches) and 18th in the shot put (27 feet, 0.5 inches).
Midwestern State competes in the Lone Star Conference Championships from May 6-8 at West Texas A&M's Buffalo Sports Park in Canyon.
