WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Katie Till and
Jake Doggett were presented as Midwestern State's Outstanding Student-Athletes at the annual MSU Student-Athlete Awards Banquet Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The award is presented to the most outstanding student-athlete at MSU for their tireless efforts on behalf of his or her team and the entire program and for exemplary participation throughout the community on behalf of Midwestern State University.
Till, a senior from Canon City, Colo., earned three letters in cross country and indoor track and field while competing twice during the outdoor season.
She twice earned All-Lone Star Conference honors during the indoor season claiming third-team honors this spring after claiming third in the 800-meter dash. Till combined with teammates
Elizabeth Butzke,
Taylor Carr and
Gemma Gonzalez to claim third in the distance medley relay at the 2020 LSC Indoor Championships to also earn a third-team nod.
Till qualified for the 800-meter finals at the 2018 LSC Outdoor Championships during her freshman campaign, but also improved at longer distances in the fall during cross country season.
She culminated her career by turning in team countable finishes in each of MSU's four meets this season and was a member of the Mustangs' LSC title team in 2018.
Till is a six-time member of the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and is a graduate of MSU athletic training program.
Doggett is set to graduate with a bachelor's in management degree in May, but plans to return for a fifth season on the links in 2021-22.
The junior from Hutto became MSU's fifth men's golf All American earning second-team PING honors from the Golf Coaches' Association of America (GCAA) in 2020.
The 2019 LSC Player of the Year garnered first-team all-league accolades in 2019 and 2020 and twice gained GCAA/PING all-region honors.
Doggett joined fellow All Americans
Derek Oland and Jared Baker as the only three golfers in program history to earn GCAA/Barbasol Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year semifinalist mention in 2019.
Doggett currently owns the second lowest stroke average in program history at 71.93, while also showing prowess in the classroom by twice earning LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll status.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced the Robert Grays 24State Teammate of the Year for each of the 13 program as voted by their peers. In addition, the MSU Athletic Department unveiled the 2020-21 Mustang Scholars.
