PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Katie Till improved her best 800-meter indoor mark by nearly three seconds, while
Taylor Carr set a pair of PRs of her own to lead Midwestern State efforts in the Sixth Annual Gorilla Indoor Classic Saturday inside the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Till, a senior from Canon City, Colo., ran a 2:21.60 to take in eighth in the 800-meter dash. The effort bettered her time of 2:24.06 set in a fifth-place showing in the 2018 Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships.
Carr produced the second-best 200-meter indoor time in program history to finish 16th overall with a new PR of 26.32. The sophomore out of North Crowley High School was clocked just a shade behind
April Pena's record time of 26.12 set during the 2019 campaign.
Carr delivered a second personal best by taking 12th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.26.
Freshman
Emily Hurst made history as the first MSU competitor in the high jump. The Norman, Okla. native cleared 4 feet, 8 3/4 inches to finish 13th.
Freshman
Shakiah Randall (26.67) and sophomore
Aaryanna Williams (26.96) finished 22nd and 26th, respectively, in the 200-meter dash, while freshman
Brayleigh McGill (2:30.02) was 23rd in the 800-meter dash.
Sophomore
Alexandra Feller placed 21st in her first indoor try at the 5,000-meter distance finishing in 20:44.83.
Senior
Hannah Ponder placed 12th in the weight throw with a heave of 38 feet and 1/4 inch, while sophomore
Peyton Lewis finished 19th in the long jump with a lunge of 15 feet, 4 1/4 inches.
