WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State (2-2) returns to D.L. Ligon Coliseum Sunday afternoon for a post-Thanksgiving rumble versus Texas Wesleyan (6-0). Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.

1 |Â Â Frances King continues to lead the Mustangs with 64 points, averaging a Lone Star Conference seventh-best 16 points. The sophomore knocked down 15 of 21 free throws to notch third on the team with 0.714 percent. King owns 16 rebounds to tally 4.0 per game. The guard is third in LSC with 4.8 average assists and ranks 44th in the NCAA. She also holds a fifth-place spot in the conference with 19 total helpers. Last season, King lead the Mustangs with 69 assists on the season, which earns her third best in the conference. She ranked 53rd in NCAA Division II while her 4.1 assists per game were seventh in the LSC and 64th nationally.

2 |Â Â Midwestern State sits third in the Lone Star Conference with 28.7 defensive rebounds per game. Lenahan tops the team with 18 total defensive boards to rank ninth in the LSC. Her average of 5.8 defensive rebounds per game puts her seventh in the conference. Overall, the senior leads MSU with 25 total grabs and collected 6.3 per game.

3 |Â Â MSU leads the Lone Star Conference with 5.2 average blocked shots while pulling a 22nd rank in NCAA. The team sits second with 21 total blocks, which puts them 18th in Division II.
Hannah Reynolds leads the charge for the Mustangs, sitting third in the LSC with a 2.25 block average. The senior forward ranks 26th in NCAA with the feat. Her total stops sit at nine earning third in the conference and 22nd in the nation. Reynolds is the all-time leader for MSU with 164 blocks in her 98-game career. She also leads with 1.7 blocks per game.

4 |Â Â The Mustangs rank second in the Lone Star Conference with a 45.9 field goal percent, draining 106 of 231 attempts. King is third in the conference with a 57.5 field goal percent, making 23 of 40. The guard was 8-13 against Oklahoma Baptist (11/23) and recorded 20 points. Reynolds holds fourth in the LSC at 54.8 percent from the floor and also tallied 23 makes of 41 tries. She totals 53 points to sit second in line for MSU with an average of 13.3 points per game. The senior went 6 for 13 from the field to gain 14 points against OBU.

5 |  Texas Wesleyan is off to the program's best start since 1984 after improving to 7-0 following Saturday's win over Arlington Baptist. The NAIA Rams own a 26.2 scoring margin this season. Texas Wesleyan is 2-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference taking a 95-58 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Nov. 18 and beat UNT Dallas 94-49 on Nov. 21. Freshman point guard Zarria Carter leads the Rams averaging 15 points per game. She also tops the team with 29 offensive boards and 28 defensive rebounds for 57 total. In addition, Carter recorded 14 steals and six blocks in her opening campaign. Guard Evie Whorley averages 13.8 points and 4.7 rebounds for TWU. The senior shoots 60.9 percent from the floor and 56.5 from behind the arc. Junior guard Kertisa Amos and junior forward Makayla Coy each boast 11.8 and 10.7 points per game.

HEAD COACH CHRISTOPHER REAY begins his second season at the helm of his alma mater. In the shortened COVID 2020-21 season, Reay guided the Mustangs to an 11-7 overall record while going 11-5 in Lone Star Conference play. The team finished fifth in the standings and reached the quarterfinals in the postseason tournament. Reay led MSU to a 4-6 mark over the final 10 games in 2019-20 serving in an interim role following
Noel Johnson's leave of absence to continue her fight against ovarian cancer. His career coaching record stands at 17-15 (.531). Reay served as the top assistant for 10 campaigns, playing a hand in guiding MSU to three consecutive NCAA Division II South Central Regionals from 2012-15 as MSU claimed a Lone Star Conference regular and postseason tournament titles in 2012-13. Reay competed two seasons at Midwestern State in 2006-07 and 2007-08 after transferring from SMU helping MSU to an LSC postseason tournament championship and a regional semifinal appearance in 2007.

SERIES AGAINST THE RAMS
Midwestern State and Texas Wesleyan meet for the 52nd time on the hardwood Sunday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs hold a 32-19 edge in the series that dates back to the 1976-77 season including wins in five of the last six games -- all played at Ligon Coliseum -- since 2014. Midwestern State claimed a 75-68 win in the last meeting on Nov. 16, 2019 as Elizabeth Cathcart led a trio of MSU players in double figures with 15 points.
Shawnisay Millar added 11 points and three rebounds, while
Kityana Diaz scored 10 points. Overall, the Mustangs have on 21 of the 26 meetings between the programs played at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
