WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Coming off their worst loss of the season, a 107-70 setback to then No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce on January 4, the Midwestern State Women's Basketball team returns to the hardwood on Thursday night against St. Edward's. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

Chania Wright scored 25 of her career-high 33 points in the first half and then No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce outscored Midwestern State 35-12 in the second quarter to cruise to a 107-70 win on January 4. Junior
Hannah Reynolds scored a career-high 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting while
Mica Schneider poured in 11 points in the losing effort. The Mustangs trailed by just three points after the first quarter.
FORGET ABOUT IT
The 107 points allowed by Midwestern State on Saturday was the most points allowed by MSU since Tarleton State scored 111 against the Maroon and Gold in a 111-83 contest on February 6, 1983. The 37-point loss was the biggest margin of defeat since a 37-point setback to Angelo State during the 2016-2017 season (84-47).
SERIES HISTORY
Midwestern State holds a 13-6 edge over St. Edward's in the all-time series and is a perfect 7-0 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Saturday marks the first meeting between the two schools since MSU dropped a 72-67 contest in Austin, Texas on November 12, 2010.
MAGNIFICENT MICA
Mica Schneider scored 11 points against then No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce, the second straight game the senior has scored in double figures. Over her last two games, Schneider is 10-of-20 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from deep.
RELIABLE REYNOLDS
Hannah Reynolds scored a career-high 24 points in Saturday's Lone Star Conference loss to then No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce. Reynolds went 8-of-14 from the floor, including 1-of-1 from deep and cashed in from the free throw line, finishing 7-of-10. The Prosper, Texas native also recorded three blocks against the unbeaten Lions, the third time this season the reigning LSC block champion has recorded three blocks in a game.
MY TERN' TO SHINE
In her first career start on January 2,
Eternity Jackson scored eight points and connected on two three-pointers to lead MSU to an LSC win over UT Tyler. The former Burkburnett HS star also recorded a steal and grabbed a rebound in a career-high 18 minutes of action.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH JOHNSON
Noel Johnson is in her 12th season as the Head Coach of the Midwestern State Women's Basketball team. Last season, Johnson led MSU to a 12-16 (9-11) mark and a sixth place finish in the Lone Star Conference South Division. Overall, the Mustangs have compiled a 156-159 (.495) record under Johnson's guidance. She became the winningest coach in program history on December 19, 2017 when MSU beat Texas A&M-Kingsville 72-66 to land her 133rd career victory.
SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
St. Edward's fell to 8-4 (4-3) with a 66-62 loss to Arkansas-Fort Smith on January 4 and are now just 2-2 since upending No. 16 West Texas A&M on December 12. Deijah Blanks leads SEU and is second in the Lone Star Conference in scoring at 19.1 PPG (St. Mary's Soteria Banks leads the league with 19.5 PPG). Defensively, the Hilltoppers rank in the middle of the pack in scoring defense in the LSC, holding opponents to 63.3 PPG.
