MONMOUTH, Oregon -- Western Oregon's Ty Currie threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 40 more yards to lead the Wolves to a 37-22 win over Midwestern State Saturday afternoon at McArthur Field.
The loss snapped the Mustangs' 21-game regular season run of wins against non-conference games against NCAA Division II opponents dating back to the 2002 season.
Currie was ejected for targeting after making a tackle on a Midwestern State fumble return early in the fourth quarter, but was plenty effective in the first three stanzas.
The sophomore signal caller connected on touchdowns to Evander Willingham for 58 yards and Omari Land for 34 yards in second quarter to post the Wolves to a 24-16 halftime lead.

Lazarus Fisher fought for a 26-yard scoring run straight up the middle with 1:09 to play.
Land paced a stout WOU rushing attack with 114 yards on 19 carries, while Nico Jackson chipped 98 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns. In all, the Wolves piled up 507 total yards including 240 on the ground.
Midwestern State senior
Xavier Land produced his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season going for 101 yards on four receptions, while Fisher led the ground attack with 92 yards on 10 carries.
Sophomore quarterback
Triston Williams connected on 13-of-35 passes for 202 yards including a touchdown and an interception.
Senior safety
Marcus Wilkerson led the defense with 11 tackles including one stop for loss, while senior linebacker
Tristan Shearman made nine stops with a tackle for loss.
Midwestern State's last loss against an NCAA Division II non-conference foe at Nebraska-Omaha (45-23) on Sept. 14, 2002.
The Mustangs take on rival Tarleton State Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
