ROME, Georgia – Angel Palacios suffered a 6-2, 6-4 loss to No. 2 seeded Alejandro Ibanez Gallego of Barry University on Thursday morning at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in the opening round of the 2019 ITA Cup.

"Angel played really well at times and was able to reach the level of his opponent," MSU coach Scott Linn said. "He just needed to finish a few more deuce points."

Palacios is back in action on Friday at noon in a consolation round match. 

"Angel did a good job today representing MSU Texas against one of the nation's best players," Linn said. "He always plays hard."
