ROME, Ga. – Angel Palacios will represent Midwestern State University at the 2019 ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia on Thursday, October 17 through Sunday, October 20.
"This year he has been great," MSU coach
Scott Linn said. "Angel can play with anyone in the country and he can beat anyone in the country."
As the top seeded singles player at the ITA South Central Region Championships held earlier this month, Palacios finished in second place, losing to the second seed Anish Sriniketh of St. Edward's in the finals, 6-3, 6-3.
"It is nice to see him rewarded with this at-large bid," said Linn. "Division II does not have a singles and doubles National Championship at the end of the year. So what the ITA did was expand our draw from eight to 16 so you get eight at-large bids in singles and eight in doubles."
Palacios opens the ITA Cup on Thursday morning against the number two seed, Alejandro Ibanez Gallego of Barry.
