MUSTANGS NOTES
 
FIRST SERVE: After nearly a month away from its home courts, No. 15 Midwestern State returns to the friendly confines of the MSU Tennis Center for a pair of matches. The Mustangs (14-4) welcome top-ranked Tyler Junior College (11-0) on Friday at 2 p.m. before opening Lone Star Conference play against Western New Mexico (3-13, 0-1 LSC) on Saturday at 9 a.m.
 
ROAD WARRIORS: Playing its last 10 matches on the road, MSU went 8-2 away from the MSU Tennis Center in March. On the season, the Mustangs are a combined 12-3 in road or neutral site matches with wins over No. 22 St. Mary's, No. 14 Rollins, No. 19 Hawaii Pacific, No. 45 CSU-Pueblo, No. 31 Metro State and No. 31 Southeastern Oklahoma.
 
VICTORIOUS VAS: Senior Vasudev Vijayaraman garnered Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honors after picking up three wins over nationally-ranked opponents last week. The Chennai, India, native leads the team with five wins on the season against ranked opposition and has four three-set wins.
 
GUARDIAN ANGEL: Sophomore Angel Palacios posted the second-longest winning streak in program history, winning 15-straight from Feb. 16-March 30. Over that stretch, the sophomore was only pushed to three sets twice before suffering his first D2 loss of the season to Southeastern's Sandro Lena on Saturday. Between singles and doubles, Palacios owns a combined 31-4 record on the season while his career .714 winning percentage in singles ranks seventh all-time.
 
FRESHMAN TRIO: Freshman Alex Martinez Roca (13-3), Nolan McCaig (11-4) and Jean Muniz (9-4) combine for 33 wins at the No. 4-6 flights. Primarily playing No. 4, McCaig owns a 7-3 record at No. 4 while Muniz sits at 7-1 at No. 5. Roca has built a perfect 9-0 mark at No. 6. Both Roca and McCaig are tied for the team's lead with each having a five-match winning streak.
 
DOMINATING DOUBLES: The Mustangs have been dominant in doubles all season. Of the 18 matches played, MSU has picked up at least two wins in 16 matches, including sweeping the doubles competition on seven occasions. The tandem of Alex Martinez Roca and Angel Palacios lead the squad with a 14-1 record, riding an eight-match winning streak.
