SCOUTING THE LADY BUFFS
- West Texas A&M rides a 17-game winning streak into Saturday LSC Postseason Tournament final against Midwestern State.
- The Lady Buffs started each semester with a loss. WT fell 77-73 to Texas-Permian Basin before reeling off nine straight wins before the Christmas break. West Texas A&M then took a 77-64 loss to MSU the first game out of the break and have not lost since.
- West Texas A&M leads NCAA Division II in team field goal percentage (49.3), is seventh in assists per game (17.9) and ninth in margin of victory (+17.2).
- LSC Player of the Year Chontiquah White leads the Lady Buffs' attack scoring 17.7 points per game while pulling down 8.8 rebounds a contest.
- White has scored 20-or-more points in five of her last seven games and is coming off of a 23-point, 14-rebound effort in Friday's semifinal win over Texas Woman's. It was White's ninth double-double of the season.
- Sophomore guard Sasha Watson pitches in 13.1 points a game while dishing out 4.0 assists.
- Watson scored 10-or-more points 20 times this season including a campaign-best 29 points against Texas A&M-Commerce (2/21).
- Senior guard Ariel Robertson raised her season average to 10.0 points per game with a season-best 23 points Friday against Texas Woman's.
- Mark Kellogg boasts a 58-5 record in his second season at West Texas A&M and is 246-64 in 11 seasons as a collegiate head coach including a 173-46 in seven seasons at Fort Lewis and was 15-13 in his only year at Northwest Missouri.
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State and West Texas A&M meet for the 62nd time on the hardwood Saturday afternoon at the Allen Event Center.
- West Texas A&M holds a 44-17 advantage in the overall series which dates back to the 1976-77 season.
- The teams have split the 12 meetings since the start of the 2010-11 season.

- Midwestern State split the regular season with the Mustangs claiming 77-64 win at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Jan. 7 then dropped a 59-55 decision to WT on Feb. 11.
- MSU's 77-64 win over then-No.3 West Texas A&M was its first win over a Top 10 ranked NCAA Division II team in program history.
- All five Midwestern State starters scored in double figures in the Mustangs' win on Jan. 7 led by senior forward
Andrea Carter with 17 points and nine rebounds.
- Midwestern rallied from a 19-point first-half deficit to pull within a single point on a
Lisa Hampton 3-pointer (42-41) with 7:46 to play on Feb. 11 in Canyon. WT extended its advantage back to eight before the Mustangs rallied to within two again in the final minute of play.
- The Mustangs were held to a season-low 13 points in the first half in the loss shooting 18.5 percent (5-for-27) from the field in the contest. MSU recovered to shoot 53.6 percent from the floor in the second half.

Shatoia Gober led MSU with 12 points while Carter narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern State claimed its fourth consecutive win by beating Texas A&M-Commerce 65-60 in the LSC Postseason Tournament semifinals Friday at the Allen Event Center.
- The Mustangs improved to 23-0 in games in which it scored at least 60 points this season.
- Seventeen of MSU's 23 wins this season have been by at least 10 points.

Andrea Carter (Angleton, Texas / Angleton HS) notched her 12th double-double of the season going for 14 points and 11 rebounds Friday against Texas A&M-Commerce.

Carter became MSU's all time leading rebounder in the opening round win over Eastern New Mexico surpassing Alice Edwards, who had 1,014 rebounds from 1981-85. Carter now has 1,031 career rebounds.

Carter moved past Lindy Lombard (1,452 points from 1998-02) and Denise Pittman (1,460 points from 1994-98) into fourth place on MSU's all-time scoring list Friday and now has 1,466 points. She needs 32 points to pass Alice Edwards (1,497 from 1981-85) to move into third.

Janae McJunkins (Wagoner, Okla. / Wagoner HS (Murray State)) knocked down four 3-pointers on her way to a career-high 14 points Friday against Texas A&M-Commerce. It was her third double-digit performance of the season.
- Senior forward
Shambreka Jones (Mesquite, Texas / Poteet HS (Charleston Southern)) blocked three more shots Friday against Texas A&M-Commerce and needs one more to match Rulinda Vogtsberger's single season record total of 56 set during the 1979-80 season.
- Senior guard
Dianna Jones (Hewitt, Texas / Midway HS) has scored in double figures in each of her last two games including an 18-point effort last time out against Texas A&M-Commerce. Jones has knocked down five 3-pointers in the last two games.

Jones stands third on Midwestern's all-time assist chart with 367.
- Senior guard
Lisa Hampton (Kennedale, Texas / Nolan Catholic HS) is second on MSU's all-time single season made 3-pointers list with 66 and needs eight more to match Lynn Buckmaster, who made 74 triples in 1993-94.

THE JOHNSON ERA

Noel Johnson is in her seventh season at the helm of the Midwestern State basketball program.
- Johnson boasts a 113-82 record (.579) while leading the Mustangs to the NCAA Division II postseason in each of the last two seasons including a trip to the South Central Region finals in 2013.
- Johnson reached milestone victory No. 100 with a 61-47 win over Texas Woman's University on Jan. 1, 2015 in Denton.
- Midwestern claimed its first NCAA postseason tournament wins taking down Tarleton State and Metro State (Colo.) in 2013 before falling to No. 4 Colorado Mesa in the regional final.
- Johnson led the Mustangs to its first Lone Star Conference championship in 12 seasons claiming the 2012-13 title.
- Johnson garnered Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2012 before earning Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' Small College Coach of the Year accolades in 2013.
