- Midwestern State takes on Texas A&M-Commerce in the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament semifinals Friday afternoon at the Allen Event Center. Tipoff is set for noon.
- The winner moves on to place the victor over Friday's other semifinal matchup between West Texas A&M and Texas Woman's in Saturday's final which tips at 3 p.m.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
- Texas A&M-Commerce snapped a four-game skid by scoring an 80-65 upset win over Cameron Thursday afternoon in the LSC Postseason Tournament quarterfinals at the Allen Event Center.
- The Lions had lost each of their previous three games by double figures.
- Freshman guard Princess Davis erupted 23 points and dished out a season-best nine assists in Thursday's win over Cameron.
- Freshman forward Artaejah Gay has scored 10-or-more points in five of her last six games after going for 18 points while pulling down nine rebounds against Cameron. It was just her fourth start of the season.
- Junior guard Gabby Scott raised her team-best scoring average to 10.2 points per game after scoring 11 points and pulling down six rebounds against Cameron.
- Senior forward La'Tisha Hearne scored eight points and pulled down 12 rebounds against Cameron.
- Jason Burton is in his first season at the helm of the Texas A&M-Commerce women's basketball program.
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State meets Texas A&M-Commerce for the 60th time on the hardwood Friday afternoon at the Allen Event Center.
- The Mustangs hold a commanding 41-18 edge in the series which dates back to the 1976-77 season.
- MSU has won the last three meetings between the programs and nine of the last 10 dating back to the 2009-10 season with the Lions' only win coming by a 71-64 decision in overtime on Jan. 4, 2014 in Commerce.
- The Mustangs are 4-1 all time against Texas A&M-Commerce on neutral floors. MSU won the last neutral meeting 71-56 in Denton on Nov. 20, 1987.
- Midwestern won the only other meeting between the programs in Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament play. MSU rolled to 83-61 quarterfinal win on the way to claiming the league championship in 2001. That game was played in Wichita Falls.
THIS SEASON VS. TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
- Midwestern State swept the season series rolling to a 77-55 win over Lions on Jan. 3 in Wichita Falls then blasted A&M-Commerce 87-69 on Feb. 7 at the A&M-C Fieldhouse.
- Seven different players combined for 12 3-pointers in MSU"s 87-69 win over A&M-Commerce on Feb. 7. The Mustangs shot 52.8 percent from the field including 12-of-23 from beyond the arc.

- Senior forward Abigail Leaupepe-Tele scored a game-high 18 points off of the bench to lead Texas A&M-Commerce.

Dianna Jones in a 77-55 win over the Lions on Jan. 3 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- Gabby Scott was the only A&M-C player in double digits with 10 points.
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern claimed its third consecutive win in a 70-49 win over Eastern New Mexico in the LSC Postseason Tournament quarterfinals Wednesday at the Allen Event Center.
- The Mustangs improved to 22-0 in games in which it scored at least 60 points this season.
- Seventeen of MSU's 22 wins this season have been by at least 10 points.
- Senior forward
Andrea Carter (Angleton, Texas / Angleton HS) notched her 11th double-double of the season finishing with 19 points to go along with 17 rebounds. The rebound total was her third largest of the season. She had 20 against Texas Wesleyan (11/18) and 18 versus Central Oklahoma (11/21).

Carter became MSU's all time rebounding leader moving past Alice Edwards who had 1,014 from 1981-85.
Carter now has 1,020 career rebounds.

Carter moved into a tie for fifth place on the program's all-time scoring chart with former All-American Lindy Lombard (1,452 from 1998-02). Carter needs nine points to pass Denise Pittman (1,460 from 1994-98) to move into fourth. She needs 36 to pass Alice Edwards (1,497 from 1981-85) to go to third.
- Senior forward
Shambreka Jones (Mesquite, Texas / Poteet HS (Charleston Southern)) blocked one more shot Wednesday against Eastern New Mexico and needs four more to match Rulinda Vogtsberger's single season record total of 56 set during the 1979-80 season.

Jones has scored in double figures in each of her last two games and is averaging 15.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in those wins over Cameron and Eastern New Mexico.

Shatoia Gober (Waco, Texas / Midway HS) is coming off of her best all-around game of the season going for 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in 21 minutes Wednesday against Eastern New Mexico. It was the third time in her career that she scored at least 10 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.
Gober accomplished the feat twice last season against Southeastern Oklahoma (13 points, eight rebounds, seven assists) and Texas A&M-Commerce (13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists).

Dianna Jones (Hewitt, Texas / Midway HS) (1,064 points) needs 14 points to pass Lynn Buckmaster (1,077 points from 1992-94), Pam Stephenson (1,077 points from 1979-92) and Lorene Fobbs (1,076 from 1988-92) to move into 15th place on MSU's all-time scoring list.

Jones stands third on Midwestern's all-time assist chart with 364.

Lisa Hampton (Kennedale, Texas / Nolan Catholic HS) is second on MSU's all-time single season made 3-pointers list with 66 and needs eight more to match Lynn Buckmaster, who made 74 triples in 1993-94.

Janae McJunkins (Wagoner, Okla. / Wagoner HS (Murray State)) knocked down two 3-pointers as part of an all-around performance against Eastern New Mexico. She finished with eight points, five rebounds and four assists.
THE JOHNSON ERA

Noel Johnson is in her seventh season at the helm of the Midwestern State basketball program.
- Johnson boasts a 112-82 record (.577) while leading the Mustangs to the NCAA Division II postseason in each of the last two seasons including a trip to the South Central Region finals in 2013.
- Johnson reached milestone victory No. 100 with a 61-47 win over Texas Woman's University on Jan. 1, 2015 in Denton.
- Midwestern claimed its first NCAA postseason tournament wins taking down Tarleton State and Metro State (Colo.) in 2013 before falling to No. 4 Colorado Mesa in the regional final.
- Johnson led the Mustangs to its first Lone Star Conference championship in 12 seasons claiming the 2012-13 title.
- Johnson garnered Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2012 before earning Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' Small College Coach of the Year accolades in 2013.

- Midwestern State is making its fourth consecutive appearance in the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament.
- The Mustangs are 12-5 all time in tournament play claiming titles in 2001 and 2013.
