ON THE PITCH
Midwestern State begins a regular season ending three-match home stand with a pair of games this weekend against rival West Texas A&M Friday night at 8 p.m. and LSC leading Eastern New Mexico Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE LADY BUFFS
- West Texas A&M has alternated a win with a loss in each of its last 10 matches, but is coming off of a 1-0 setback against Eastern New Mexico last Friday in Portales.
- The Lady Buffs are 2-5 on the road this season, but have won two of their last three away from The Pitch in Canyon taking victories at Southwestern Oklahoma State and Texas A&M-Commerce.
- WT ranks last in the LSC in scoring average (1.29 goals per game) and are fifth in average goals allowed (1.07 goals per game).
- Junior midfielder Emily Krenek has accounted for a third of WT's scoring output with six goals this season.
- Senior midfielder Jessie Thomas and senior defender Rhea Belgrave have three goals each, while sophomore midfielder Karyn Forbes is WT's top playmaker with three assists.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State and West Texas A&M meet for the 35th time on the pitch Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field.
- The series is knotted at 17-17-1 after West Texas A&M claimed a 2-1 win earlier this season in Canyon.
- MSU is 9-3 against the Lady Buffs all time in Wichita Falls.
- Midwestern State and West Texas A&M played for the LSC Postseason Tournament title last season in San Angelo, but are both battling for a berth in the tournament this season.
 
SCOUTING THE ZIAS
- Eastern New Mexico claimed a pair of big home wins over Angelo State and West Texas A&M and has won four of its last five matches heading into weekend play.
- The Zias are tied with Texas A&M-Commerce atop the LSC standings with 4-2 league mark with 12 points, but ENMU hits the road to take on Angelo State Friday before making its way to Wichita Falls on Sunday.
- Senior midfielder Alyssa Prince leads the Zias' attack with five goals and one assist, while senior defender Victoria Perez adds four goals.
- Junior defender Melissa Moxley is ENMU's top playmaker with four assists.
- Top goalkeeper Fabienne Wilson sports three shutouts in her seven starts this season. The senior from Alamogordo, N.M. boasts a 1.26 goals against average to go along with a .780 save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State meets Eastern New Mexico for the 16th time on the pitch Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.
- The Mustangs control a 10-3-2 edge in the series which dates back to the 2003 season.
- MSU is 6-1-1 all time against the Zias in Wichita Falls.
 
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern State split a pair of Lone Star Conference road matches for the second straight weekend taking a 2-1 win Friday at Texas A&M-Commerce before falling 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Denton.
- The Mustangs are in sole possession of fifth place in the Lone Star Conference race with 8 total points just two points behind Angelo State and Texas Woman's (10 points) for the fourth and final berth in the LSC Postseason Tournament with three matches to play.
- Junior forward Callie Briseno (Amarillo, Texas / Amarillo HS) scored each of MSU's goals in a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Texas A&M-Commerce Friday night.
- The tallies were the second and third of Briseno's career and the first since the Amarillo native scored a goal against Abilene Christian on Oct. 28, 2011.
- Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Courtney Burnette (Irving, Texas / MacArthur HS) leads NCAA Division II in goalkeeper minutes played (1457:54), is 20th in total saves (85.0) and 59th goals against average (0.741).
- Senior midfielder Katy Catney (Wichita Falls, Texas / Rider HS) ranks 69th nationally in total assists (5.0).
- Freshman forward Destinee Williamson (Bedford, Texas / Trinity HS) rates 83rd nationally in total points (18.0) and is 86th in total goals (7.0).
- Junior midfielder Stephanie Bonilla (Dallas, Texas / South Garland HS (Richland College)) notched her third assist of the season Friday night against Texas A&M-Commerce while sophomore defender Haley Britton delivered her first assist of the campaign and second of her career.
 
THE CLARKE ERA BEGINS
- Damian Clarke is in his eighth overall season as a head coach boasting the 11th best winning percentage amongst NCAA Division II coaches at 113-34-21 (.735).
- Clarke led Fort Lewis to NCAA playoff appearances in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013 as the Skyhawks advanced to the Elite Eight in 2010.
- Clarke is a three-time NSCAA Central Region and RMAC Coach of the Year.
