SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
Angelo State enters the game at 9-7 overall and 3-3 in Lone Star Conference action after losing at Eastern New Mexico 74-64 on Saturday night for their second straight defeat. First-year coach Cayla Petree's Belles are led by junior forward Hillari Adam of Wall, Texas, a transfer from Abilene Christian who is the Rambelles only double-digit scorer with 12.4 points (eighth in the LSC), to go with a team-leading 6.7 rebounds (fifth in the LSC) and 1.4 steals a game. Sophomore guard Amanda Weaver of Center Point, Texas adds 8.9 points, as does senior forward Rochelle Norris of Dallas, Texas/Skyline (both 24th in the LSC). Weaver adds 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists to go with her 1.9 3-point field goals per game (third in the LSC).  Norris grabs 3.9 rebounds while shooting 44.2 percent from the floor. ASU is averaging 59.9 points a contest, while allowing opponents 57.3 points a game.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State takes on Angelo State for the 55th time when they meet at Ligon Coliseum on Saturday. Angelo State holds a 29-25 lead in the series dating back to the 1978-79 season. ASU holds a hefty 20-5 record over MSU in San Angelo, 11-1 at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena, while MSU leads 19-9 at Ligon Coliseum and on a neutral floor 1-0. The last time MSU played the Rambelles in San Angelo it was historic. The Mustangs posted a 69-59 victory on Jan. 5, 2013 and marked MSU's first victory over ASU in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena and Midwestern's first win in San Angelo since Jan. 23, 1997. However, Angelo State got revenge on Feb. 16, 2013, by beating the Mustangs 54-48 at Ligon Coliseum.
LAST TIME OUT VS. ASU
MSU fell to Angelo State 54-48 on Feb. 16, 2013. It's the only time since February 2011 that MSU lost consecutive games at Ligon Coliseum after dropping an 85-72 decision to Abilene Christian. MSU did not hold the lead in the contest but kept the game close throughout. MSU trimmed the ASU advantage down to one with 11:37 to play, but allowed the Belles to go on a 15-5 run over the next seven minutes and MSU could not recover. MSU was led by Kirsti Degelia who collected 13 points with five rebounds, three assists, a blocked shot and a steal. Skyler Warrick and Shatoia Gober each added seven points. Andrea Carter and Gober each grabbed six rebounds. MSU shot just 25.0 percent from the floor, connecting on a season low 14 field goals on 56 attempts, and hitting 3-of-11 3-pointers (27.3 percent), while totaling 17-of-26 from the foul line (65.4 percent).

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State is 10-7 on the season, 2-4 in Lone Star Conference action. Coach Noel Johnson's Mustangs are led by junior All-America forward Andrea Carter who is averaging 13.9 points and 8.6 rebounds to rank fifth in the LSC in scoring and third in rebounding, with 2.0 steals (fourth in the LSC) and 0.5 blocks per game (10th in the LSC). Senior guard Kirsti Degelia adds 10.8 points (12th in the LSC) with 1.2 three-pointers a game, to go with 3.0 assists (seventh in the LSC) and 1.4 steals (11th in the LSC). Junior guard Dianna Jones adds 10.4 points a game (15th in the LSC) to go with her 4.5 assists (second in the LSC), 1.6 steals (seventh in the LSC) and 1.76 assist-turnover ratio (third in the LSC). Junior guard Shatoia Gober chalks up 7.9 points a contest, as she pulls down 5.0 rebounds (17th in the LSC) with 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals. MSU averages 69.6 points a contest, while allowing 65.8.

The Mustangs battled Texas Woman's through 12 ties and 14 lead changes, but failed to convert on the game's final opportunity in the last 8.9 seconds as Texas Woman's edged MSU 66-65 at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton. Dianna Jones accounted for nine of her team-leading 14 points in the second half for MSU, while Shatoia Gober added 10 points with four rebounds. Andrea Carter accounted for nine poits with eight boards. The Mustangs shot 43.1 percent from the floor (22-of-51), including 4-of-16 from the arc (25.0 percent) and shot a season-best 89.5 percent from the foul line (17-of-18), but were outrebounded by the Pioneers 36-27.
MSU UNDER NOEL JOHNSON
Noel Johnson is 82-72 in her sixth year as the head coach of the Mustangs. She was the Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year in 2012 after turning the program around with a 19-8 season, then earned the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Coach of the Year award for leading MSU to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 with a 26-6 record and the Lone Star Conference Championship.
MSU IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Midwestern State started the season at number 10 in the WBCA's USA Today Sports Division II Top 25, but early losses dropped them to the first team receiving votes for the next three weeks. The Mustangs are currently not receiving votes in the poll.

The Mustangs recorded their third two-game losing skid of the season with the loss at Texas Woman's on Sunday, and has now dropped four of their last five games … MSU hasn't lost three straight since the 2012 season … Midwestern has held it's last three opponents to 66 or fewer points in the last three games, despite losing twice. In fact MSU has held it's opponents to less than 70 points in five of their last seven contests … The loss to TWU snapped a three-game winning streak for the Mustangs over the Pioneers. Still MSU has claimed six of the last eight meetings with the Pioneers … MSU had it's best game from the free throw line of the season, percentage-wise, hitting 89.5 percent (17-of-19) at TWU. It was the eighth time this season MSU has made 17 or more free throws in a game and the third time the Mustangs have shot 80.0 percent or better in a contest from the foul line … MSU was outrebounded by Texas Woman's 36-27. It was the sixth time MSU has been out boarded, with the Mustangs losing four of those outings … Senior Kirsti Degelia of Denton, Texas/Krum moved into ninth on Midwestern State's career scoring list. Degelia currently has 1,250 points, passing Shannon Boase (1995-98) with 1,248.
