Midwestern State returns for a brief two-game home stand Saturday night against West Texas A&M.
And the Mustangs have fared much better at D.L. Ligon Coliseum this season where they have posted a 5-3 mark this season.
MSU needs that home court momentum to carry it back into the Lone Star Conference South Division race.
Currently, the Mustangs are knotted with Texas A&M-Kingsville at 1-4 in the South cellar, but are just one game behind a trio of squads tied for the fourth and final LSC postseason tournament berth as Angelo State, Incarnate Word and Eastern New Mexico are all 2-3.
But MSU faces a tough road over the next eight days as the Mustangs face the top two teams in the division beginning with the Lady Buffs on Saturday before facing LSC South leading Tarleton State twice during rivalry week.
The 5-11 forward continues to lead the South in scoring during division play with 20.8 points per game average and has been on a scoring binge since being inserted into the starting line for the first time this season against Texas Woman's University on Dec. 18.
Since then, Markham has scored in double figures in eight of her nine starts and scored at least 20 points in four of her last five outings. She also tallied 22 points in her lone non-start during the run as the Mustangs stretched No. 7 Northeastern State to double overtime on Jan. 6, 2011.
Over the last 10 games, Markham is scoring at an 18.3 points per game clip while shooting 52.5 percent from the field (62-of-118) and 58.8 percent from the arc (10-of-17) while fighting her to the free throw line 6.7 times per game.
Despite dropping seven of its last eight games, MSU rates near the top of the conference in scoring offense (5th/70.4), free throw percentage (4th/70.1), rebound margin (3rd/+3.3), steals (3rd/8.8), turnover margin (2nd/+2.76), offensive rebounds (3rd/14.3), defensive rebound percentage (3rd/70.2) and offensive rebound percentage (3rd/36.1).
