OKLAHOMA CITY – The Midwestern State women posted a final round of 302 to move up two places and finish fifth at the Mahogany-UCO Classic Tuesday.

MSU sophomores Taylor Klutts and Lindsay Burkhart each recorded four-over 74s on the par 70, 6,120 yard Lincoln Park East course in the final round to help the Mustangs tally a 611 for the tournament.

Sophomore Lauren Romines played the tournament as an individual medalist. Her 74 in the final round matched Klutts and Burkhart, but totaled 157 to place 32nd.

Klutts finished tied for 12th at the classic with her 36-hole total of  eight-over 148. Burkhart was in a tie at 24th at 154, joining teammate Kendra Whittley who carded a 78 on the day. Senior Kyla Whittley fired a 76 to finish a stroke behind the pair at 155. Freshman Megan Richardson turned in consecutive 85s for a 170 total.

Host Central Oklahoma won the team championship with a 582 total, with St. Edward's (Texas) three back at 585. Cameron was third with a 602, followed by Incarnate Word (Texas) at 607.

Individually, St. Ed's Wallis Spears fired an even-par 70 to win the event with a three-over 143, one stroke better than UCO's Emily Leahey at four-over 144.

The MSU women play again next Monday and Tuesday in the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational at the PGA National Palmer Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
