WICHITA FALLS, Texas - No. 10 Midwestern State rode a hot shooting night and a strong all-around performance from
Jason Ebie to roll to an 85-66 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs extended their home court winning streak to 22 games while advancing their season mark to 18-1 and clicked to 3-1 in the Lone Star Conference South Division.
Ebie, a senior point guard from Houston, matched three teammates with 12 points but added 10 assists and fell just short of the third triple double in program history with eight rebounds.
With Ebie leading the way, the Mustangs lead from tip to buzzer and stretched the lead to 30 when
Jon Trilli completed a three-point play with 6:55 to play.
It was that kind of night for MSU as Trilli, a junior transfer from Garden City Community College and son of former assistant coach and player, Vic, finished with a career-high nine points in 13 minutes of court time.
Everyone seemed to be in on the scoring as
Chris Hagan (4 assists, 3 rebounds),
Craig Green (4 rebounds, 4 assists) and
Michael Godwin (2 rebounds, a block and a steal) joined Ebie with 12 points each.
Senior forward
Rashad Austin finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots off of the bench, while
Anthony Moore chipped in 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Mustangs recorded assists on 24 of 31 field goals and notched their third game of the season with better than a 60-percent field goal percentage (62 percent).
Defensively, Midwestern limited the Hoggies to a 35.3 field goal percentage as TAMUK continued to rely on isolation basketball.
Senior guard Naquan Lee, who was the lone member of the Javelinas to shoot better than 50 percent, led Texas A&M-Kingsville with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Midwestern State hits the road to take on Abilene Christian in an LSC South Division contest Saturday afternoon at Moody Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. or 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game which begins at 2.
The Hoggies dropped their seventh-straight road game to fall to 11-8 and 1-3.
