DURANT, Okla. - Cameron's Sammi Adams beat out a bunt single in the bottom of the first inning and Jenna Boren reached with a leadoff walk in the second inning.
That was the extent of the NCAA Division II homer-leading Aggies' offensive output in Saturday's elimination game in the Lone Star Conference Softball Championships as Midwestern State's
Katie Petersen sat down the last 18 batters she faced on her way to a one-hit shutout to lead the Mustangs to a 4-0 win.
Midwestern State (35-26) advance to another elimination contest at 1:30 p.m. and will face the Abilene Christian a 3-2 winner over Tarleton State earlier on Saturday.
It was Petersen's second one-hitter against the Aggies and the 10th shutout of the season as she improved to 25-7 after fanning six and walking one. She has not allowed a run in 17 innings at the LSC Softball Championships.
Freshman
Amanda Potysman was the hitting star for the Mustangs after going 3-for-3 including fourth double in the fourth and her fourth homer in the sixth inning.
The freshman from Grapevine is hitting .714 during the three games thus far in the tournament going 5-for-7 at the dish.
The Mustangs jumped on Cameron starter Ashton McBride for two unearned runs in the top of the first as
Ashley Kuchenski delivered an RBI-single after
Maranda Bishop scored with the assistance of a CU error to give Petersen the early 2-0 advantage.
Midwestern added a run when Bishop drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth before Potysman lifted a solo blast over the left-field fence in the sixth.
Cameron ends the season with a 35-30 record.
