DURANT, Okla. – Angelo State took advantage of a pair of Midwestern State errors to score five run in the fifth inning as the No. 2 Rambelles came away with a 6-4 win Friday in the Lone Star Conference Crossover at the Mutli-Sports Complex.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for MSU as the Mustangs fell to 23-13, while Angelo State improved to 28-6.
The Mustangs staked starter
Katie Petersen to a three-run lead after scoring a pair of unearned runs in the first inning and a solo home run by

But Petersen, who fell to 16-4, was unable to hold on as she lost for just the second time in her last 18 decision. The sophomore from Plano allowed six runs – three earned – on six hits while walking three and striking out four in five innings.
Angelo State clawed back to 3-1 on an RBI-single by Brittney Cargill in the third inning before MSU unraveled for two errors in a five-run fifth for the Rambelles.
Kristen Frye led off with a double down the left-field line before advancing to third on a groundout by Cargill.
Whitney Meeks then grounded a ball to MSU first baseman
Lauren Craig, who caught Frye in a rundown, but catcher
Lindsey Voigt's throw went down the line allowing Frye and Meeks to score to know the game at 3-3.
The Rambelles continued the onslaught with three more runs to take a 6-3 lead.
The Mustangs answered with a run on an RBI groundout by Craig in the seventh, but it wasn't enough.
Craig led the eight-hit MSU attack by going going 3-for-4, while Voigt was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
