WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Tarleton State's Travis Evans rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns to lead the No. 19-ranked Texans to a 37-16 win over No. 22 Midwestern State Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
The Texans, who have now won their last six contests against MSU, broke open a close contest with 21 third-quarter points.
Evans scored a pair of 3-yard touchdown runs in the quarter as the Texans took advantage of a missed field goal and a diving by Jacob Rowe on a tipped pass at the MSU 10-yard line to turn a 13-10 halftime advantage into a commanding 24-point bulge.
Tarleton quarterback Scott Grantham completed 13-of-27 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns including a 59-yard strike to Eric Foreman and a 9-yard toss to Tanner Maher.
Foreman paced the Texans with four receptions for 91 yards.
Midwestern State built a 10-6 lead in the first quarter after
BeeJay Mathis scored on an 8-yard run at the 10:21 mark and
Jose Martinez connected on a 24-yard field goal with 3:44 remaining in the opening quarter to give MSU a 10-3 lead.
Tarleton State would score the next 31 points before the Mustangs cut the deficit to 34-16 on a 5-yard

MSU sophomore quarterback
Zack Eskridge passed for a season-high 247 yards, while sophomore
Marcus Mathis rushed for 90 yards on 11 carries.
Midwestern State faces Texas A&M-Kingsville next Saturday on the road, while Tarleton State plays host to Eastern New Mexico.
