Biography

At Midwestern State

Senior (2009)

  • played in each of MSU's 12 games and made seven starts at running back.
  • led team with 492 rushing yards on 130 carries with three touchdowns.
  • recorded season-best 100-yard rushing performances against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Oct. 17, 2009 then again at Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 31, 2009.
  • fourth on team with 16 receptions for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
  • had two receiving touchdowns against Northeastern State on Sep. 12, 2009 including a 10-yard score in the first quarter and on a 76-yard screen pass in the second quarter for a 52-3 win.
  • ranked 13th in NCAA Division II in punt return average (13.50 yards per return).
  • ranked 97th in NCAA Division II in kick return average (21.50 yards per return).
  • closed career as MSU's all-time leader in punt return yardage with 1,033.
  • posted third most career kick return yards at 939.
  • became fourth player in MSU history to amass 3,000 all-purpose yards joining program greats Bryan Gilmore (3,936), Daniel Polk (3,618) and Dominic Rhodes (3,454).
  • finished career with 3,571 all-purpose yards.

Junior (2008)

  • played in nine games and started one as a running back/return specialist.
  • became Midwestern State's all-time leader in punt return yardage on Sep. 27, 2008 when he broke free for a 65-yard punt return in the third quarter against Angelo State.
  • eighth in NCAA Division II with 281 yards on 18 punt returns for a 15.6-yard average and now has 736 yards on 48 career returns for an average of 15.3 yards.
  • second on team with 353 rushing yards on 71 carries for a 5 yards per carry average.
  • rushed for a season-high 94 yards on 14 carries at Northeastern State on Sep. 13, 2008.
  • had 275 yards on 12 kickoff returns for an average of 22.9 yards.

Sophomore (2007)

  • the lethal all-around athlete was sixth in NCAA Division II in punt return yards with a 15.2 yards-per-return average.
  • returned 30 punts for a school-record 455 yards including a touchdown.
  • averaged 8.9 yards per rush in limited backfield duty as he finished with 508 yards on 57 carries with four touchdowns.
  • twice earned Lone Star Conference Special Team Player of the Week honors... returned seven punts for 142 yards including a 70-yard return for a touchdown against Northeastern State on Sep. 15, 2007.
  • had a 20-year return in seven of 10 games.
  • had a team-best 89-yard rush for a score at East Central on Sep. 22, 2007.
  • rushed for two TDs against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Oct. 20, 2007... had a season-high 101 yards on 13 carries against Abilene Christian on Nov. 10, 2007.
  • rushed for 407 yards on 52 carries for a 7.8 yards-per-carry average against LSC South Division opponents.

Prior to MSU

  • spent sophomore season at Kilgore College and freshman year at Brigham Young.

At Berkner High School

  • earned all-state recognition as a kick/punt return man while starting three seasons at running back for coach Jim Ledford at Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas.

BeeJay, a kinesiology major, is the son of Gail Jones of Dallas, Texas... he was born Jan. 29, 1986... is father of 3-year-old daughter, Alaysia...
