WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Bella Rose was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week after No. 21-ranked Midwestern State posted its eighth shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory over No. 12-ranked Texas Woman's and played a 1-1 draw at Lubbock Christian last week.
Rose, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, assisted on
Madison Brinkley's goal in the seventh minute against Texas Woman's, who suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday at Stang Park.
Rose is a team captain and has a goal and two assists for the Mustangs. MSU has outscored its opponents this season 26-1 and has the third-best goal differential in the nation. Rose helps anchor a back line that has only allowed opponents to put 18 shots on goal in 10 matches this season.
Midwestern State is back home on Wednesday afternoon to face Oklahoma Christian. Kickoff at Stang Park is scheduled for 4 p.m.
