ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 35-ranked Midwestern State is the No. 2 seed in the 2026 Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Championship and awaits the winner of the quarterfinal dual between No. 3-seed Lubbock Christian and No. 6-seed Cameron. The semifinal match will be played at 9 a.m. on Friday at Arlington Tennis Center.
Midwestern State (16-6, 8-2) extended its winning streak to four duals with a 7-0 pasting of Sul Ross State at MSU Tennis Center on Saturday. The Mustangs have only conceded three dual-match points during the winning streak, which comes on the heels of a 4-3 loss to top-seeded UT Tyler.
The Mustangs only other loss in conference play was a 4-3 setback to No. 29-ranked Angelo State, which is the No. 4 seed in the LSC postseason tournament and will face fifth-seeded St. Mary's for a berth in the semifinals and a dual with UT Tyler on Saturday morning.
Selin Sepken, No. 8 in the latest ITA Collegiate Rankings, has a four-match winning streak entering the postseason and is 17-2 at No. 1 singles with four wins over nationally ranked opponents. During conference play, Sepken won nine of 10 matches with her only loss coming against No. 9-ranked Yona Bancarel in three sets.
Emilia Gyorgy, a freshman from Hungary, won 13 of her last 15 singles matches. She lost a 7-5, 6-1 decision to Vasilis Kupriianova of Angelo State and was upended at St. Mary's by Selina Wu, 6-2, 6-4. Gyorgy was 8-2 in conference matches and finished the regular season with a 16-6 overall record, winning her only appearance at No. 1 singles and recording 15 victories at No. 2 singles.
Sepken and Emilia Gyorgy are the No. 10 doubles pairing in the ITA Collegiate Rankings and have won seven consecutive matches, finishing the conference regular season with a 7-3 record. For the season the duo is 16-6 overall but 7-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Camila Garcia and Jasmine Crain have played the last seven duals at No. 1 doubles after posting a 14-1 record at No. 2 doubles to start the season. Crain and Garcia have a three-match winning streak and a 7-3 record in conference play.
Garcia has won 12 consecutive singles matches for the Mustangs and is 18-2 this season, playing primarily at No. 3 singles. She won both matches against nationally ranked opponents and was 9-0 during the conference campaign. The sophomore from Colombia won 24 of her last 25 sets during completed matches. She has not lost a match since March 12, when she fell to Renata Morales of Northeastern State, 6-4, 6-2.
Crain, a freshman from Edmond Oklahoma, finished the LSC regular season with an 8-2 record, closing out the regular season with four consecutive straight-set wins. Crain is 9-4 at No. 5 singles and 3-5 when playing in the No. 4 spot.
Alessia Dolce has strung together eight consecutive wins — winning all 16 sets — since suffering a 6-3, 7-5 loss to Benedetta Raggiotti of Angelo State. The sophomore from Italy is 14-6 overall with an 8-2 conference record, playing primarily at No. 4 singles during the second half of the season.
Dolce and Hattie Berend are 11-2 at No. 3 doubles with a 7-2 record in conference duals.
Berend won six of her nine singles matches during the LSC regular season and is 8-6 at No. 6 singles for the Mustangs, winning five of her last seven matches.
Midwestern State is 87-37 in singles matches this season and took the doubles point in 18 of 22 duals this season, posting a 49-14 record in doubles.
The Mustangs have not won a conference postseason tournament since taking their third straight title in 2019. MSU has been eliminated in the semifinals in each of the last two seasons, but reached the national semifinals in both seasons. MSU is a five-time conference champion.
