WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State is No. 5 in the NCAA Division II West Region rankings released on Friday.
The Mustangs are behind Dallas Baptist, UT Tyler, Cal State San Marcos and St. Mary's (Texas). Midwestern State is one of eight Lone Star Conference schools in the top 20.
West Texas A&M is the fifth LSC program in the top-10. The Lady Buffs are ranked No. 8.
Texas A&M International is No. 12 followed by Angelo State at No. 13, and Lubbock Christian is No. 15.
Midwestern State is coming off an impressive win at the Hardscrabble Invitational in Fort Smith, Arkansas, last week.
The victory was the 18th tournament title in the history of the program. The Mustangs finished 54-over 899 to defeat Arkansas Tech by five strokes after shooting 15-over 299 in the final round at Hardscrabble Country Club.
Midwestern State is competing in the Cardinal Challenge hosted by Lamar University at the Beaumont Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
