TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – No. 27-ranked Midwestern State swept Northeastern State, 4-0, in a dual match at NSU Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon.
Bruno Sanchez clinched the 4-0 triumph with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Edley Alexander at No. 2 singles. Sanchez has won three of his last four singles matches and improved his record to 5-2 this season with a 3-2 record at No. 2 singles.
Sanchez teamed with Cesar Loeches Llamas to clinch the doubles point with a 7-5 win over Edley and Mansur Khajimuradov at No. 1 doubles.
Juan David Duque and Jose Marquez posted a 6-2 win over Tomas Aramburu and Ko Osuga at No. 3 doubles to start the day for the Mustangs. Duque improved to 4-4 in doubles, and Marquez is 3-5 in doubles.
Marquez handled Khajimuradov at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 7-5, and improved his singles record to 5-3, including two wins in the No. 3 position.
Duque is 4-4 in singles after a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Baptiste Linet at No. 4 singles. Duque has won two of his three matches at No. 4 singles this season.
The Mustangs now lead the all-time series, 3-2, and the Riverhawks fell to 3-4 for the season.
Midwestern State improved to 5-3 and will meet No. 31-ranked Harding at MSU Tennis Center on Friday morning. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m.
