ARKANSAS CITY, Kansas – No. 8-ranked Midwestern State posted a routine 6-1 victory over Northwest Missouri State to open its 2026 dual-match season after reaching the national semifinals last spring.
Selin Sepken, ranked No. 1 in the South Central Region and No. 10 in the nation, had a memorable spring debut with a clinching 6-3, 6-4 win over Miru Nonaka at No. 1 singles.
Emilia Gyorgy, a freshman from Hungary, followed up an impressive fall run with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Marja Djokic at No. 2 singles.

Jasmine Crain donned the Maroon and Gold for the first time in a dual match, and the right-hander from Edmond, Oklahoma, coasted to a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Laura Prieto Sieiro at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore
Alessia Dolce from Italy was pushed to a super tiebreak by Polina Gontraryk at No. 5 singles but prevailed after splitting the first two sets, 3-6, 6-4.
Sophomore
Camila Garcia, who anchored No. 5 singles in her freshman campaign, got stronger as her match progressed and rallied to beat Chiharu Ito at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 10-3.
Polina Agapitova pulled out a 6-3, 6-4 victory over MSU newcomer
Mala Krzanic-Sullivan at No. 6 singles.
The Mustangs swept doubles to earn the first point of the afternoon.
Garcia/Crain were first off the courts with a 6-4 triumph at No. 2 doubles over Chiharu/Nonaka.
Dolce/Krzanic-Sulllivan clinched the first point of the season with a 7-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Sepkin/Gyorgy defeated Agapitova and Michelle Kostadinova, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles.
Midwestern State meets Cowley Community College on Saturday afternoon at 9 a.m.
