Struggles in San Angelo continue for Stangs

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Midwestern State (8-17, 6-12 ) fell to Angelo State (16-13, 7-11) on Saturday afternoon at Junell Center, 80-67. It was Midwestern State's 11th straight defeat in San Angelo and extended its current four-game losing streak. The Mustangs outscored Angelo State 43-39 in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome a 17-point first-half deficit.

The game began with Angelo State taking an early lead, highlighted by a three-pointer from Jordan Crawford at the 18:59 mark. MSU responded with a dunk by Tehshaundre Cole, assisted by Kadon Jackson, to keep the score close at 4-3. Angelo State then pulled away with a strong offensive display, including a 3-pointer from Jabbari Barry at the 8:29 mark, extending its lead to 23-13. The first half concluded with Angelo St. ahead 41-24, following a dunk from Ashraf Barsham and two free throws in the final seconds.

Angelo State maintained control in the second half, securing a 13-point victory over the Mustangs. Jhordan Ryan contributed significantly for the Rams, scoring  a game-high 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Terrance Ramirez sparked a late rally, scoring a 3-pointer and a series of quick layups, narrowing the gap to 11 with 1:30 left on the clock. Despite MSU outscoring Angelo State 43-39 in the half, Angelo State's consistent scoring and defensive stops, including a block by Zyon Little in the final seconds, ensured their win.
