Lauren Short made three saves, and Midwestern State defeated Oklahoma Christian, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Stang Park. The Mustangs look to remain unbeaten as they visit St. Edward's on Sunday morning. Kickoff at Lewis-Chen Family Field is at 10 a.m.
The game was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday but was moved due to inclement weather.
Midwestern State was outshot by the Eagles, 14-11, but only allowed five shots on goal and has not allowed an opponent more than five shots on goal in their last 30 games. MSU improved to 10-0-1 for the season, and the Mustangs are 6-0-1 in conference play.Â
The Mustangs are playing their fifth road match of the season and have started the season with a 3-0-1 record as the visiting side.
Lexi Gonzales has been held pointless in back-to-back games for the first time this season, but the senior from Grand Prairie, Texas, leads the Stangs with 14 points from five goals and four assists.
Brinkley scored her fourth goal in the 80th minute against the Eagles. It was her second game-winning goal of the season — and with three assists this season — she has 11 points for the Stangs.
Sloane Sullivan has nine points from three goals and three assists, while Hailey netted her third goal of the campaign in the 50th minute against OC, giving her seven points for the season.

Leeci Snyder, who is tied with Gonzales for the team lead in assists with four. Five players have assisted on two goals for MSU, and five players have one assist.
Midwestern State is ninth in the nation and second in the conference with 2.6 assists per game. MSU has scored the second most goals in the LSC with 28, which is 15th-most in the nation. The Mustangs are scoring 2.55 goals per game, which is the fourth highest average in the conference and 22nd among Division II programs.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lauren Short is one of four goalkeepers in the nation with at least eight clean sheets, and she has one combined shutout for MSU.Â
Short has made 20 saves in nine starts this season. She has made two or fewer saves in nine of her 11 appearances for the Mustangs. She made a season-high four saves in a 1-0 win over Central Oklahoma.
Short has the best save percentage in the conference at .913 and her goals-against average of 0.19 is second in the league.
The Mustangs boast the third best goal differential in the nation at plus-26. Dallas Baptist leads D2 with a plus-35 goal differential.
Midwestern State is 9-9-6 in its all-time series with the Hilltoppers but has won the last two meetings, which were both at Stang Park.
Marlene Myrvold scored for the Mustangs in a 2-0 victory on home ground last season. The Mustangs are 4-6-0 when visiting the Hilltoppers and lost their last two visits by the same 1-0 score.
St. Edward's (1-6-3, 1-3-2) is winless in its last three matches following a 2-0 loss at UT Tyler on Wednesday afternoon. The Patriots scored twice in the opening 16 minutes and outshot the Hilltoppers, 12-6.Â
The Hilltoppers are 1-2-2 at home this season, defeating West Texas A&M, 2-0, as Dylan Nates and Madison Cresell scored goals for SEU on Sept. 19.
St. Edward's has been outscored this season, 16-7. Creswell and Riley Sisson have scored two goals apiece. Nates and Isabella Ruiz have each scored a goal for the Hilltoppers. Five players each have one assist for SEU, which had a pair of 1-1 draws with Angelo State and St. Mary's before its loss at UT Tyler.
Midwestern State visits West Texas A&M on Wednesday night. Kickoff at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas, is scheduled for 7 p.m.
