NORMAN, Okla. – Midwestern State Track & Field sprint back to Norman, Oklahoma for the second straight weekend, as they will compete at the JD Martin Invitational on Thursday at Mosier Indoor Track Facility at Oklahoma University. Competition begins on at 10:30 a.m. with the long jump, and concludes with the 4x400 relay.

"We are excited to be indoors this weekend!" said Mustangs head track & field coach
Kelsey Bruce. "We had a really solid opener last week, but we know that we have to keep moving forward, hopefully this weekend is another step in the right direction," said Bruce.
Midwestern State return to the Sooner State after competing in the Owen Hewett Invitational just a week ago. In the meet, the Mustangs produced a baker's dozen of personal best marks, while winning four events against Division I competition

Hailee Janzen claimed first place in the 200m invite section, clocking a time of 25.37, while
Kennedy Johnson won the open section of the 200m (25.49).
Jessie Heath garnered the fastest time in the 800m, winning the invite section of the mid-distance race with a time of 2:16.49.
Hallie Kogler won the 400m open section, racing to an indoor personal best time (1:03.97).
This weekend, the Mustangs will face a packed field, including against 17 collegiate programs along with several unattached athletes. Follow Lone Star Conference member Oklahoma Christian will be competing, along with regional Division I programs (Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tarleton State, TCU, and Tulsa). The program will student-athletes entered in 11 different events, with the 60m hurdles and 60m dash having preliminary heats.

Several athletes will take part in the short distance events, with five Mustangs entered in the 60m dash, and eight Mustangs set to race in the 200m dash.
Shalisa Williams will be in both 60m hurdles (9.16) and 60m dash (8.26), while
Kennedy DeHorney, Janzen, Johnson, and
Karissa Nixon racing in both the 60m and 200m dashes.

In the 400m,
Maggie Neal and
Jessie Heath will be racing in Heat 1, while
Abby Cavender and
Christasia Jones will also be racing in the event. Both Heath (56.85 PB) and Neal (57.81 PB) are in the top-six for the programs indoor performance list for the 400m.

In the distance races,
Grace Pineda and
Ella Pando will compete in both the mile and 3,000m. Pando set a new school record in the 3,000m earlier this season, marking a school record 10:09.06 at the Crimson and Gold Invitational in Dec. 2025.
Isabel Hernandez will race in both the 800m and mile, with
Hallie Kogler joining in the 800m.
Jadyn Dangerfield will race in the mile, while
Jazira Perez and
Jackie Earley will race in the 3,000m.

Cavender and Johnson will take on the long jump, while Johnson will also compete in the triple jump. Johnson has posted a pair of provisional marks this season in the triple jump, and is currently 15
th in the nation for Division II.
Diana Kelley will take on the high jump, looking to break their program record mark of 5-0.75 set earlier this season. MSU will conclude up the meet with two relay teams competing in the 4x400m.
