LAREDO, Texas — Midwestern State (0-1-3, 0-0-1) and Texas A&M International (1-1-2, 0-0-1) played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night at Dustdevil Soccer Field, with both teams scoring in the second half.
Midwestern State applied consistent offensive pressure in the first half against the Dustdevils, marked by multiple attempts on goal and a series of corner kicks.
Nyxalee Munoz led the charge for the Mustangs, registering three shots, including two saved attempts at the 12:15 and 33:38 marks. Despite their efforts, which included five corner kicks, MSU's offense was unable to convert any of their opportunities into goals. Texas A&M International's goalkeeper, Latae Rodriguez, played a crucial role in maintaining the scoreless tie, making key saves throughout the half.
The second half began with an early goal by MSU's
Lillia Besedin, assisted by Munoz, in the 48th minute, giving the visiting team a 1-0 lead. The Maroon & Gold maintained pressure with multiple shots and corner kicks while also committing several fouls throughout the half. The Dustdevils worked to equalize and finally succeeded in the 90th minute with a goal from Valeria Olivas Maldonado, assisted by Adamaris Manjarrez.
