CANYON, Texas – Midwestern State battled No. 2-ranked West Texas A&M in a pair of tightly contested games at Schaeffer Park on Thursday night.
All-American pitcher Emilee Boyer pitched brilliantly, and she drove in two runs with a homer, as the Lady Buffs won the opening game of the doubleheader, 5-1.
In the nightcap,
Addison Lindemann pitched a complete game for Midwestern State, scattering six hits over six innings, but West Texas A&M pulled out a 3-2 victory as Boyer earned her first save, and Kendall Selitzky improved to 7-0 in the circle for the Lady Buffs.

West Texas A&M starting pitcher Emilee Boyer struck out 12 Mustangs in a complete-game victory and improved to 19-1 on the season as the Lady Buffs defeated Midwestern State, 5-1.

Kayleigh Bowers (4-5) took the loss in the circle for Midwestern State (14-24, 11-18). Junior
Sydney Gonzales threw three shutout innings in relief, allowing three hits, walking four and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mustangs were trailing 5-0 in the seventh inning when sophomore
Addison Lindemann put Midwestern State on the board with a one-out solo home run off Boyer.
Mikey Dominguez delivered a two-out single and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch but Boyer avoided any further damage, and the Lady Buffs won the opening game of the twin bill.

Addison Lindemann (6-12) was a hard-luck loser in the circle for Midwestern State (14-25, 11-19). The right-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on six hits, allowing three walks and striking out six.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lauren Granger put West Texas A&M in front with a solo homer in the first inning and added an RBI single in the second, but the Lady Buffs did not score again until Boyer drove home Kiley Avery with a single to center field in the fifth inning.
Sophomore
Sydney Linn drove home senior
Camile Nunez with a base hit to left field in the sixth inning, and junior
Madison Stewart narrowed the deficit with a single that scored Linn.
The Mustangs threatened again in the seventh inning as
Mikey Dominguez led off the inning with a base hit, but Boyer entered the circle and retired the next three batters. Boyer recorded two strikeouts and induced a ground ball to earn her first save of the season.
Kendall Selitzky (7-0) earned the win for WT, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks issued.
