Talley resigns as head softball coach

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Brittanie Talley resigned as Midwestern State's softball coach Tuesday afternoon.

Talley coached the Mustangs to a 55-145 record over the past four seasons, including a 41-87 mark in Lone Star Conference play finishing no higher than 12th in the league standings.

"We appreciate Brittanie's efforts over the past four seasons," MSU Athletics Director Kyle Williams said. "We wish her the best in her future endeavors."

The Mustangs have made one postseason appearance since 2014 -- advancing to the LSC semifinals in 2016. But MSU made a five-win improvement by finishing 20-33 in 2025, the most wins since the Mustangs won 22 games in 2019.

The program advanced to NCAA postseason play in nine of its first 11 seasons from 2004-14, including a national semifinalist showing in 2011. The Mustangs claimed Lone Star Conference championships in 2006 and 2007.

The search for the next head coach begins immediately.
