Zoe Isom threw her second complete-game shutout of the season as Midwestern State won the first game of a doubleheader with Western New Mexico at Mustangs Park on Sunday afternoon, 7-0.
The Mustangs rallied to overcome a six-run deficit in the second game, but WNMU won in eight innings, 9-7.
Sydney Linn was 5-for-7 with two home runs and six RBIs in the doubleheader, while
Jessika Roberts was 5-for-6 with four doubles and scored three runs for the Mustangs.
Midwestern State is 15-30 overall with a 12-24 record in the Lone Star Conference. The Mustangs are 10-12 at home this season and return to Mustangs Park on Wednesday for a doubleheader with Sul Ross State. The twin bill begins at 1 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sydney Linn hit a line drive two-run homer over the centerfield fence in the first inning as Midwestern State jumped out to a 3-0 lead, and Zoe Isom twirled a gem for the Mustangs. Isom had six strikeouts and did not issue a walk as she improved to 3-6 in her sixth start of the season. Isom was one of nine seniors honored prior to Game 1 as the Mustangs celebrated Senior Day in their final weekend home game of the season.
Jessika Roberts, Morgan Brown, Camile Nunez, Emma Roach, Mikey Dominguez, Sydney Gonzales, Lexi Mills and Myranda Jimenez were the other seniors recognized in a pregame ceremony.
Mills delivered a two-run single in the fourth inning, while Nunez and Roach each drove in a run in the fifth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Western New Mexico drew two bases-loaded walks in the first inning and established a 7-1 lead through 5 1/2 innings, but Sydney Linn led a dramatic comeback for the MSU Mustangs. Linn hit an RBI single down the third-base line in the sixth inning and scored along with Emma Roach as Lexi Mills drove home two runs with a base hit to right field.
Trailing 7-4 in the seventh inning, Roach worked a two-out walk, putting runners at first and second base. Linn crushed a three-run homer over the right field fence to tie the game.
Addisen Byers and Laryssa Morales each had RBI singles for in the eighth inning, and the Western Mustangs earned their first-ever win in 14 games at Midwestern State.
Addison Lindemann (6-15) pitched effectively through 4 2/3 innings but took the loss. Lindemann was the third pitcher used by the Mustangs. The sophomore recorded five strikeouts with only two walks, but she allowed five runs on seven hits.
Kaleigh Bowers was the first pitcher out of the bullpen and went 3 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
Senior Sydney Gonzales made her first start of the season in the circle for Midwestern State.
