ROCKWALL, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Seth Bearden was named Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Year at the pre-tournament banquet Sunday night at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club.
The junior from Crowell, Texas, who has led the Mustangs to three team tournament this season, becomes the fifth MSU golfer to earn the league's top individual honor.
Bearden is currently ranked fourth in the Clippd NCAA Division II individual rankings, sporting an adjusted scoring average of 70.0.
Bearden boasts three individual wins, taking the Dunning Invitational, Houston Classic, and Oak Tree Invitational. He also finished runner-up last week at the Palm Valley Classic and was third at the Midwestern State Invitational.
Bearden carries an individual finish percentage of 89.4. He has posted par-or-better scores in 17 out of 26 competition rounds this season, including nine scores in the 60s.
Bearden joins former MSU standouts Derek Oland (2014, 2015), Jared Baker (2017), Jake Doggett (2019, 2022), and Garrett Leek (2021), who also earned LSC Players of the Year honors.
Bearden also repeated as an All-Lone Star Conference first-team performer, and was named to the LSC All-Academic Team.
Bearden claimed PING/GCAA second-team All-America honors last season.
Midwestern State opens play in the Lone Star Conference Championships Monday morning at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club.
The 54-hole tournament begins with two continuous rounds on Monday, followed by a single round on Tuesday morning.
The top four teams advance to medal match play on Wednesday.
