WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Justin Leslie resigned as Midwestern State's head men's basketball coach Tuesday afternoon to take the same position at NCAA Division II Westmont College.
"On behalf of Midwestern State University and the athletic department, I thank Justin for his six years of effort and commitment to the men's basketball program," MSU Athletic Director
Kyle Williams said.
Leslie amassed an 86-80 record (.518) in six seasons at the helm at Midwestern State.
In his final season, he led the MSU to its first NCAA Division II South Central Region appearance since 2015-16, posting a 23-8 record and finishing third in the Lone Star Conference with a 17-5 league mark.
The Mustangs won their first NCAA Division II postseason game in 10 seasons by hitting a program record 23 3-pointers in a 102-72 win over St. Edward's.
Midwestern State reached the quarterfinal round of the LSC Postseason Tournament in three of Leslie's six campaigns in Wichita Falls.
"We appreciate the impact he and his staff made on campus and in our community," Williams said. "We wish Justin and his great family nothing but the best as he takes the next step in his career and continues to build and develop student-athletes."
Leslie heads to Santa Barbara, California, to take over a Westmont College program that recently completed its transition to NCAA Division II. The Warriors posted a 13-16 mark in 2024-25 and finished tied for fourth in the Pacific West Conference at 11-9.
A national search for the next Midwestern State men's basketball coach begins immediately.
