FRISCO, Texas -- Senior forward Zarria Carter, who led the Lone Star Conference in scoring, rebounding and steals during the regular season, was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Year. Kerbie Cash scored 13.6 points per game and grabbed 7.4 rebounds per game in her first season at Midwestern State and was named the LSC Freshman of the Year at the annual awards banquet on Wednesday night. Both players were named to the All-Lone Star Conference team.

Carter averaged 21.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game for the Mustangs. The 6-1 senior from Mansfield, Texas, also averaged 2.5 steals per game and finished the regular season with 71 steals.

No one in the conference had more double-doubles than Carter, who was fifth in the nation with 17 double-doubles.

Carter had the second-best field goal percentage in the conference at 54 percent (230-of-426) and she had the most field goal attempts in the LSC. She also led the conference in free throw attempts with 177. She made the second-most free throws with 132, hitting 74.6 percent of her foul shots, which was ninth-best in the LSC.

Carter, who was the LSC Newcomer of the Year in 2024, finished her career at Midwestern State averaging 18.4 points per game and 10.7 rebounds in 57 games. She averaged 31.5 minutes per game, which is sixth most in the history of MSU women's basketball.

Carter leaves Midwestern State with the second-best field goal percentage in program history at 52.6 percent and the fourth-best free throw percentage at 76.8 percent.

She had the fourth-most offensive rebounds with 256 and 12th-most rebounds overall with 600 during her time at Midwestern State.

Carter was named First Team All-Lone Star Conference and was part of the All-Defensive Team.

Cash was named Third Team All-Lone Star Conference and was part of the All-Freshman team.

The 6-2 forward from Wylie, Texas, scored double figures in 24 games and in conference games averaged 15 points and eight rebounds a game. Cash was second on the team and sixth in the conference with nine double-doubles.

Grace Foster of Lubbock Christian was named the LSC Player of the Year for the second time in her career.
