ON DECK | Mustangs head for Land of Enchantment

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State hits the road for a pair of Lone Star Conference doubleheaders this weekend.

The Mustangs take on Western New Mexico Friday afternoon at 2 and 4 p.m. (Central Time) in Silver City before closing the weekend with a twin bill against Eastern New Mexico Sunday at 2 and 4 p.m. in Portales.

HOOF MARKS >>> Midwestern State is coming off a weekend sweep against Lubbock Christian and No. 4-ranked Angelo State. The four-game winning streak is the longest of the season and longest since winning six-straight games from March 29-April 10, 2024. The Mustangs have won six of their last seven.
>>> Senior Myranda Jimenez became MSU's first Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week since 2014 after hitting .538 (7-for-13) with three doubles, a triple, five runs scored, and two RBIs last weekend against Lubbock Christian and Angelo State.
>>> Jimenez is hitting .423 (11-for-26) during her current eight-game hitting streak with three doubles, a triple, a home run, and four RBIs. She has reached base in 12 consecutive games.

>>> Senior first baseman Emma Roach is MSU's hottest hitter over the last 10 games. She is hitting .423 (11-for-26) during the stretch with two doubles and four RBIs.
>>> Sophomore pitcher Addison Lindemann is 3-1 with a 0.50 ERA with a save over her last five appearances. She has limited the opposition to a .210 batting average the stretch, allowing two earned runs on 21 hits over 28 innings.
>>> Sophomore Kayleigh Bowers owns a 3-0 record with a 2.62 ERA over her last four starts.
>>> Midwestern State ranks second in the LSC And 13th in NCAA Division II, turning 13 double plays this season.

ABOUT WESTERN NEW MEXICO
>>> Western New Mexico carries a 10-23 overall record into weekend play with a 7-17 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The 10 wins are the most in a season since the Mustangs won 21 games in 2016.
>>> Western New Mexico has won five of its last six home games, including a sweep of Cameron on March 2.
>>> Freshman Lauryn Carbajal went 11-of-13 with three homers and six RBIs in double headers last week against UT Permian Basin and Sul Ross State. The outfielder leads WNMU with a .410 batting average with seven doubles, two triples, seven homers, and 19 RBIs.
>>> Freshman infielder Antonya Lucero has a hit in each of her last eight games and in 14 of the last 15 to raise her season batting average to .354. The Albuquerque native boasts five doubles and seven homers while driving in 19 runs this season.
