WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State sit fifth in the latest edition of the South Central Rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship Committee.
The release is the second of three published rankings of the regular season, with the final rankings announced Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship provides for a 56-team, single elimination tournament. The top six teams from the South Central Region advance to the postseason with the opening two rounds hosted by the top two seeds on November 21 and 23.
The No. 1 seed plays host to the Nos. 4 and 5 seeds, while the No. 2 seed welcomes the No. 3 and No. 6 seeds.
If the postseason began today, top-seeded DBU would receive a first-round bye and host the matchup between No. 4 UCCS and No. 5 Midwestern State.
No. 2-seeded Colorado School of Mines would also receive a bye and host the winner of the first round matchup between No. 3 Colorado Mesa and No. 6 Regis.
The winners of the two pods and advance to face the victors of the two pods out of the West Region for the third round and national quarterfinal round.
Midwestern State begins its play in the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament quarterfinals on Monday evening in Wichita Falls, facing the winner of (7) Lubbock Christian and (8) St. Edward's. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
