WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State freshman wide receiver
Cedonyae Lott was named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, and freshman kicker
Kohen Maroney was named LSC Special Teams Player of the Week following the Mustangs' 70-23 victory at Western New Mexico on Saturday afternoon.
Lott caught 11 passes for 284 yards and four touchdowns, setting a program record for receiving yards, and he had the most receiving yards in a single game by an NCAA Division II receiver this season. It is the most receiving yards in the LSC in more than a decade.
Lott tied Kendrick Gibson and Juwan Johnson for most touchdown receptions in MSU history, and he tied teammate
Demonte Greene, Gibson, Andy Tanner, Xavier Land and Ja'Marzeyea Arvie for second-most receptions by an MSU receiver in a single game. David Little caught 14 passes in a 38-31 overtime win against Incarnate Word in 2010.
Lott caught touchdown passes of 40, 75, 69 and 45 yards.
Sean Jastrab threw the first two touchdown passes in the first half, and
Canyon Evans threw two touchdown passes to Lott in the fourth quarter.
It was the 10th time in MSU football history that a player scored at least 24 points.
Midwestern State quarterbacks combined to throw for 508 yards, while Maroney threw a 7-yard touchdown pass. The Mustangs surpassed the previous school record of 470 yards passing against Angelo State in 2018.
Maroney also made three field goals from 46, 23 and 32 yards while going 7-for-7 on extra points. His 16 kicking points tied for the most in the LSC this season and is the second-most in MSU history behind teammate
Joseph Carlson and Ritse Vaes, who each had 18 in 2024 and 2023 respectively.
Lott received the LSC Special Teams Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks last month.
